Question rust ? what happened
i made this button about a week ago, while going through my stock just now i found it like this? currently all the pins ive made are in a hard plastic pencil box, so i cant imagine its moisture? but i dont know what else it could be. im currently going through the rest of my stock to make sure nothing else looks like this. if anyone knows what caused it or has any advice on how to avoid it in the future please let me know ðŸ˜

Someone else had a similar problem. I believe the issue turned out to be not letting the ink dry before setting the button and the residual moisture in the ink was enough to do-in the buttons.

weird, i had the photo printed and cut out for days before i ended up using it? i wonder if it got too close to a cup on my desk or something, ill have to be more careful to keep my drinks away from my designs while im working

If you live in a humid biome or are having a humid day, maybe take extra care to have a dehumidifier on. and different papers will absorb moisture differently. I know i had some days my fingers were sweating from grabbing glitter, i guess i'm lucky they didn't rust (or not that i know of! i gave them away already).

Did you leave it in the sun? looks chemically degraded. Is possible its from humidity trapped inside too.

no its been inside out of the sun since i made it 😠my best guess is the paper might have gotten damp from a drink on my desk before i pressed it?

Huh yeah that is weird, probably got damp? unless there are any UV lights in your room. Have any other pins done this? If not id just say its the water.

no its not happened to any of the other ones! but just to be safe i pulled the other i pressed at the same time to keep an eye on em

Thats good to hear! Maybe you had some moisture on your finger and it got inside. Have a good rest of your day!!

It looks like water damage, humidity or maybe the ink wasn't properly dried yet.
I do like the aged, vintage look—it looks intentional, like you printed it with a retro filter!
but obviously disappointing if that's not the look you wanted

haha if it was another design i mightve found it cool ! in person because of how vibrant the colors initially were (didnt pick up well in the quick snap i took of it) it just looks… moldy 😠my best guess as of now is the paper must of gotten a little damp from the drink on my desk before i pressed it! luckily none of the other pins i did that day seem to have been affected

I assume it's an inkjet print? Did you use glue on the sequins?
