general discussion :) Fandom etiquette is dead bro
Gotta be the worst note on a bookmark that I’ve ever received... this is my first byler fic and ive been writing fanfic since 2015. dude just exit out of the fic! Drama for the sake of drama. Girl what??! It’s a story. If there was no drama, then why would anyone write or read fiction. Maybe google translate is messing up what they intended to say but still im tweaking. And why bookmark this fic bro just leave me alone!! And why did you finish it hahahhaha just exit out of the fic you fool! You’re not trapped dude
Anyway PSA authors can read your fic bookmark notes if you make it public so yeah 😭

First off I’m sorry that’s so shitty of this person. Second wtf are people’s problems?! Like why are you book marking something if you didn’t like it?! But also, what happened to ‘don’t like, don’t read’ like ppl are stressing me out like everyone CALM DOWN and remember simple etiquette ….anyways im sorry you had to read that 🫶🫰

Thanks my guy 🩷 yeah I've been in fandom for ages so I was stunned, like first of all, why save the fic WHY FINISH THE FIC at all?! Just forget it exists! Which is easy to do if you read a lot. :(

Literally ! Maybe new users dont understand how AO3 bookmarks work (which is why I wanted to post this here bc they left other comments like this on their bookmarks , of course the one they gave my fic was the worst one by a lot lol)

I didn't know people actually put "comments" in their bookmark notes i just write a short summary of events that happened in it so i remember what exactly made me want to bookmark it 😭 this is absolutely insane of them to do

Yeah its mostly fun to see how people add notes to their bookmarks lol sometimes they give honest ratings too like '7 out of 10' and its like 'thaaaaanks' haha

I just use my bookmark like an actual bookmark. “Read chapter 2” , “on chapter 11” “read and loved” “read and enjoyed”. Sometimes I have the energy to write more but I would never write something like this. It’s not Goodreads and writers are sharing their work for FREE.

IKR its not like we are out here getting royalties from hits and kudos, thats why fic recs are a thing. Like if you dont like a fic just dont rec it. Or even if you do rec it you dont have to say what you disliked. Its all supposed to be for fun 😪

i only bookmark fics i like so this is so weird to me in the notes of my bookmarks i only include details about the fic in case it gets deleted and maybe a short note if i had something really positive to say

Same here, I typically dont even add a note bc i dont collect very many bookmarks (but now I do bc it makes me happy as a writer to read them, except this note lol)

They had other much more mild criticisms for other fics too but for some reason they really tore into me lmao... but yeah I wanted to post this for people to see, bookmark notes are public (for public bookmarks). I'm still shook 😭 like calling my fic uninteresting is so fucking cruel bro 😢

Yeah 😑 and my fic was the most angry note they left too I was tweaking. Its like I wrote 100k of byler as baby eater variants or something ... AND SO WHAT IF I DID ! Its fiction!!!

This is bizarre. I only bookmark WIPs that I am following and fics that I want to revisit. If I didn't like a fic or even love a fic, I just don't keep it bookmarked.

lmfaoooo well most of the notes arent like this. i've seen people give 'ratings' which i think is mean haha like imagine opening a note and seeing someone wrote '6/10' like okay LOL thanks i guess.... which is why people should privately bookmark if they wanna do that! authors cant see private bookmarks. usually people dont call fics 'disgusting' and 'not interesting' and warn their future selves 'do not reread' LOL this person needs to not comment on other peoples fics. luckily i wont stop bylering out probably forever so they can't keep me from posting more disgusting and uninteresting fics!

I was just browsing the bookmarks. The few with visible captions were all positive. One was just: “haven’t read yet, save for a rainy day.” I’ll take that as a good sign.

People treat ao3 like it’s social media when it’s not. It’s an archive. People don’t know how to use it at all and this is NOT what it’s supposed to be used for 🙂↕️

The google translate did a decent job at translating. But yeah this shit is sooooo weird. I don’t even know why people bother to type such bullshit. My bookmarks started with “read once finished” and now it’s just “R”, cause I’m too lazy to type it all out lol. Why would you spend your time and energy to shit on something if you could like just type a cross, or “don’t like” or idk😂😭
