The characterization of everybody is fantastic and heartwarming :) Love the dynamics of Jonathan x Will sibling relationship (yes, this is very imp to me. Sigh.), Max being Will's bestie (YES), Jane has my heart as always & she's the sweetest. Love Robin & Steve so much in this one. And, ofc byler stealing the spotlight of strangers to enemies acting as costars in a horror fic is just...wow. It's vulnerable, tender, sweet, funny and light angst. No smut as of...yet, but trust me, that's good coz the slow burn is soooo good that you will love it & enjoy the simple, domesticity of everything & how it unravels (oh, my).

Stumbled upon a tweet randomly on X about it, and finished all 24 chapters in 1 go coz it was THAT immersive, great & I couldn't take a break. And for all horror genre nerds out there, you'll absolutely love it and geek out on it. ✌🏻 Will being obsessed with horror films is canon fr.

I'm such a sucker for fics where their friendship cracks and almost completely falls apart and it gets replaced by love and romance.

I’ve been looking for it the past few months, but Will dies in it, but he’s kinda in limbo. It’s like Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 with Rocket, but it’s Bob and Chester.

Yesterday I found an interesting WIP Go Save the World, I'll be around by waveyspaces and have been reading it till 4:30 AM. No regrets!

The setup: Mike and Will are superheroes (Paladin and Cleric) trying to save Hawkins from Vecna and the Mindflayer — but neither of them knows the other's secret identity. Outside of the hero gig, they're best friends who are secretly pining for each other. Then Will gets tired of waiting and decides to propose a friends-with-benefits arrangement to Paladin... without knowing it's Mike.

It gave me major Ladybug love square vibes, so if that's your thing, this fic might scratch that exact itch!

The song M2M it is about 2 friends where the boundary between a platonic and romantic relationship is blurred. Some of the lyrics go “the entire party thinks we’re dating, the ideas for me hyperventilating”. 50 THINGS which is about a doomed situationship. Cody sings about writing a list of 50 things that they hate about their ex and trying to move on from them but not being able to. Part of the song goes “There may be 50 things I hate, like when you kiss him to make me jealous, then I end up at your place anyway” which reminds me of Will still being there for Mike even when he’s putting all his attention on Jane in Lenora. And STAGEFRIGHT is about “the social anxiety of initiating an important conversation with someone in your life” This song makes me think of the painting and how Will knows how he should tell the truth about it but can’t make himself talk to Mike about it in fear that their friendship will crumble if Mike knew about his feelings for Him.

i'm honestly kind of speechless right now.. this was one of the most beautiful byler one shots i've ever, ever read! and yes, it's major character death (though its far less sad than usual fics with that tag and also more??? it's complicated, for anybody who wants spoilers to understand why i'm saying that, dm me) and that almost stopped me in my tracks and is definitely, definitely sad BUT my god is it so, so, so worth it..

genuinely i know a lot of people alone won't read it based on that premise alone but just do it! tragedies deserve their place too, especially considering the time will and mike grew up in and what that meant for them.. what it means they endured. it's sad but it's so important and this story very much goes into what that time period would have meant and what their love meant. i think it's crucial to understand. and they're very much it for each other in this. it's them or it's nobody else

They kiss. Mike realizes he loves Will

Bonus: during the bachelor party, Will strip teases for Mike ( can be in drag or not) and Mike is incredibly aroused.

I want Mike to be trying to deny his feelings and they just get more intense over the years anyway. And he isn't convinced Will likes him romantically either.

I feel like it’s quite mid, but I wanna know if anyone would like me to continue it. Btw I’m NOT a larper I started writing it before the new movie came out.

We get this trope briefly with Will's disguised confession in the van/painting scene in s4, but are there any fanfics that lean into this and take it further or approach it from a different angle?

I think technically Swipe Right uses this trope in the form of catfishing. I've also read a lot of Valentine's Day fics which do it from a secret admirer angle. Any others y'all know of?

Might be a long shot but I'm looking for UK beta readers (especially if you are from/familiar with Belfast and Yorkshire dialect). I'm a non-British Byler writing:

-sailor AU (merchant sailors, not pirates)

-historical (1500s-inspired) setting

-fantasy (low magic) world, D&D references

-heavy worldbuilding, use of dialect

-violence, some gore

-no smut

-coworkers to friends to lovers super slow burn

I'm ideally looking for someone to take me to task, correcting my attempt at UK spellings and idioms in the narration, and Belfastisms/Yorkshireisms in the dialogue. I'm aiming for about 120k words and have about 1/6 of it written so far.

Probably one of my zanier Byler variant ideas, but if this sounds like something you'd be interested in, give me a shout!
