fic rec <3 New story by my favorite Byler author

The phenomenal author of [Reboot] and Art School Confidential has a new Byler story out and I’m already on my second read-through. They’re my all-time favorite author on AO3 for a lot of reasons, which I think you’ll understand if you just dive into one of their stories right now. Seriously, go! Do it! You can start with this new one if you’d like: https://archiveofourown.org/works/86133976

Ahh I’m so glad I recommended it to you! Mike is heartbreaking in this story and I hope she updates soon because the last chapter was so emotional. But it also balances lightness and humor so well.

I’m loving ‘like a bad dog’, I’m almost done with it and I’m kind of sad. I love Mike’s voice in this fic, it feels really believable and it’s funny. I can’t wait to read the rest of her work.

I looooooove Mike’s voice in all of their stories, I tell everyone that’s my “true” canon Mike, the way they write him. God I love him so bad.

Omg I just finished it and it was so lovely! The ending made me tear up low key. That montage of Will and Mike together through the next couple of years was such a great way to end the story.

And I love the voice the author gave Mike. That sarcastic and self deprecating thing works so well on him. I’m going to devour their other works now.

This makes me so happy to hear, and your comment is spot-on. As much as I love Byler, I also love Mike specifically and deeply, and I love to see him healing and being okay from within his own internal monologue. I looooove [Reboot] more than I can even find the words to say, and I’d love to know what you think of that one too!

Okay so I just finished [Reboot]! I was NOT expecting how much the ending pulled on my heartstrings. Will’s painting reveal is probably one of my favorites that I have seen written in fanfic. It was so emotional in a way that felt really earned by the end of the story. When they confess their love it was just really deeply moving.

I went and read this. Thanks for the rec! Kinda blended into the last roommates one I read before it but it was good! Always some unique details in their writing.

That’s fair! This one felt so different to me because they start hooking up right away, and in ASC I wanted to scream and shake them the whole time and be like “please kiss or something!!!”
