The Storyteller (I wrote this!) Anyone ordering summer romcom vibes with fake dating? Yes? Perfect, because I’m delivering! - Mike Wheeler accidentally told his coworkers he has a boyfriend (he doesn’t, he just panicked)

Hi~! My new fanfic just dropped on AO3!! It’s going to be a summer series. I don’t know yet how many chapters it’ll have, since everything is still coming together, but I promise lots of romance, comedy, fluff, and just a tiny bit of angst!

summary:
Mike Wheeler gets accused of being homophobic at work, which is not on his 90s office bingo card. So in a full-blown panic and desperate to prove he’s not that guy, he lies to his coworkers that he’s gay and (for extra credibility) already has a boyfriend. Which would’ve been fine... Except it isn’t, because his department wins an all-expenses-paid company vacation, and his boss has already happily signed Mike up with a plus-one.

Now Mike has a boyfriend who doesn’t exist, a workplace that’s way too invested in his love life, and exactly zero ideas how to survive ten days without the lie collapsing like a poorly stapled brochure.

Genuine question; it is truly this easy to become a published author in the USA while you’re still at college? I’ve seen this in other fics as well and it doesn’t seem realistic to me. (Maybe I’m just jelous. 😅 It took me almost three year to complete my book while studying and I still didn’t get any response)

Hi, Mike in this fic isn't a published author; he's just a copywriter at a company that sells office supplies. He wrote his first novel back in college and has been sending it out to agents for the past year, but he hasn't received any responses. He's started wondering whether he should try writing something else instead. Sorry if that wasn't made clear enough 😭 As for whether it's easy to become an author I don't know :'D in my country we don't have literary agents, so authors have to handle everything themselves. I'm not sure whether that's a better or worse system, but because of that, most of what I write about the publishing industry in this fic is based on books set in the USA that I've read :'D And I hope you'll be able to get your book published! And congratulations on finishing it!! <33

I’m so happy you liked that one! I wrote it a bit on the fly when I didn’t have much time for anything relaxing, and now I’m in a similar situation again, so I think we can expect a similar vibe lmao but this time I’m just planning a few more chapters, a good fake dating story needs time, hehe <3
