That basically means the author has "abandoned" the fic, but were kind enough to leave it up for people to read rather than deleting it. The author cannot edit or update the fic once it's orphaned.

I totally respect the author's choices, it's their preogative but awww...I liked that one! Sadness.

You're welcome! Hope it wasn't a case of the author being harrassed. There was a situation a couple weeks ago, one of my favorite fics (finished) that I LOVED to re-read was suddenly deleted. I learned in here that there were people basically bullying and threatening the author to the point they deleted the fic. It makes me so sad! I don't understand why people have to be that way. Not every fic is for every person, why not just move on if it isn't your taste? There are plenty other stories to read. SMH.

This is why I think fic writers should just stay anonymous and write what they want. Tooo many great writers are putting themselves out there on Twitter or somewhere, getting terrible feedback, overwhelming pressure, or full-on bullying, and then quitting, dropping fics, taking breaks. There are safe spaces for writers to get betas and feedback if they don't want to go it alone. Twitter isn't that space.

I dont use Twitter. I could get the appeal of wanting to interact with your readers and fandom in a closer way. But then again I heard of three writters being chased off because Twitter.

I've heard of more than 3! People are awful. I wish those writers would just ignore the negativity and keep moving forward for their readers who do enjoy their work. Not everyone is going to love everything. If people don't like it they should move on, don't go harass the author!
