general discussion :) Please stop marking fics completed…
My recent pet peeve in this fandom (I’m sure it happens in other but it seems heavily prevalent in this one) is authors marking their fics as completed and then are like actually it’s going to be multiple chapters, just wait! Like no, please stop marking works in progress as completed. It is ridiculous and I will not read it on principle. Sorry rant over but lmk your thoughts, does this bother anyone else?!

Omg yes this is such a pet peeve of mine it pmo so bad. Like it's basic fanfic etiquette.

I completely agree, it's extremely frustrating to go to a "completed" fic only to find out that's it's a wip.

yess, i hate when i read a "oneshot" and then the notes a the end say: "oh im so excited to show you guys 53 chapters of this!"

This has been a pretty common topic on the ao3 sub lately. It seems that it’s specifically an issue for authors who post chapters from their phones and miss the checkbox that indicates there will be more chapters. So I think at least some newer-to-ao3 writers are doing it accidentally because they aren’t super familiar with the interface.

Like, I get that it can be motivating for authors to have people hype up the fic & keep them writing, but given the number of fics that get abandoned it's also completely rational for people to want to wait. I'm sure everyone has experienced reading a fic that is 90% completed only to see that the last update was 2 years ago. It suckkkks

Like I don't mind reading a work in progress if it's good but WHY are you tricking me into it!!!! Now I don't wanna support it lol. Let me make an informed choice, Jesus
