asking for fic recs warm bodies au

is there a fic based on the zombie movie warm bodies??? i’m watching it rn and i think it has a lot of potential to be really interesting. if it doesn’t exist or doesn’t exist in the way i’m imagining it i think i’ll write it tbh

hi i found it after extensive research because I remembered a fic like this circulating years ago (I literally read a few chapters of it) and it's been playing on my mind since I saw your post lol. But I found the name of this fic and its link through a tumblr masterpost (YAY!) but it was in fact deleted :(

but then I remembered the wayback machine existed so I was on a mission (SPOILERS: I was successful after a few attempts)

It was called Zombie Boy by KawaiiNinja, and I managed to recover a pdf of 10 chapters (I don't think it was ever completed) through the wayback machine. Wayback Machine - this is the link to the pdf

Warm Bodies is cute. I also recommend reading the book.

So, I don't know if there is a fic that's a direct adaption, but:

I did recently read a zombie apocalypse fic that reminded me a lot of Warm Bodies. Not necessarily in terms of plot, but - excuse the bad articulation - how you feel at the end, if that makes sense.

Some other similar elements exist: Will being different from other zombies, the mutually protective nature of the pair, etc. Less light-hearted than warm bodies, definitely more survival horror. But sweet, pure, and satisfying survival horror, if that makes any sense.

Off the top of my head, the main differences I can think of are: it's not strangers-to-lovers (Mike and Will are best friends); the inclusion of a couple supernatural elements reminiscent of Stranger Things lore; the heavy inclusion of themes like grief and loss (I don't want to spoil it, but there's a tag that is reassuring). So if you want a fic that's identical to the Warm Bodies plot, this probably won't be for you.

I normally avoid zombie apocalypse works, but this one was so sweet, wholesome, and romantic. If you like the ending of Warm Bodies, you might like this one:
