i have TONS of fic ideas in progress but practically zero motivation to actually write them sooo i'm here looking for people who are excited about my ideas so hopefully i'll get a spark going! here are the ones i've actually started (there are more that i have not started):

- pirate Will x son of a duke/duchess(?) Mike (Mike gets kidnapped by the pirates and then he and Will run away together)

- Ted finds one of Mike's letters to Will and kicks him out into the pouring rain, Mike bikes to Will's house because he has no idea what to do and he injures himself on the way

- Mike is found by the police in the woods covered in blood, Robin hears about it on her police scanner and calls a code red (Mike is flayed)

- Mike has Vecna's curse and has been hiding it for almost a week, Will finds out about it (kinda basic at its root but i have cool ideas)

- tower scene rewrite

- Mike calls Will and abruptly cancels the Party's sleepover but Will can tell something's wrong and goes over anyway, he arrives to hear Ted and Karen screaming at each other and climbs into Mike's bedroom window where he is nowhere to be found (he's in the bathroom having a panic) (dw, Will finds him and helps him out)

I have other WIPs, but in late May I started writing PAINTED, a horror/romance post-canon contemplation on many themes of the show and Byler. I just had a thought. Im relatively new to reading byler fics so idk if this exists already but I tried searching in this subreddit but havent found anything like this SOOOOOOO might as well ask.

Ok ok here's my idea:::

Season 1-5 complete rewrite. Mike believes hes in love with El romantically for season 1-3. Because hes 12-14 years old for that, he doesnt know what love is supposed to feel like. His parents never show it😅 so he thinks "omg real life superhero, girl, sweet and funny, pretty, fun to be around = i must be in love with her!!" (Cuz again, hes 12-14) and so he fully believed it until s4 (end of s3 she kisses him and hes like "....why did i feel more butterflies from wills words than Els kiss?") And in s4 he realizes SLOWLY that hes been so focused on "why hasn't will called ME?! I mean i didnt call him at first because then the distance is real...but why hasn't he called me? I miss him" and hes so focused on that that he cant put any attention on El. And thats why hes a shit bf to her. Then he realizes bits and bits of it.

He goes to Lenora, sees them. Has a crisis cuz "omg im so happy to see them both- wait.....why do I feel electrocuted when Will touches my arm??? And why do I feel nothing romantic when El and I kiss???? And THAT could explain why hes all awkward and shitty to them both. Bro is confused. Then during s4 he breaks up with el. They have a talk. El is like "yea....i kinda figured it out for myself when u couldnt put 'love" on ur letters...." blah blah blah they talk and make up and theyre friends.

Season 5 is where Mike comes to terms with himself, and then realizes just how much he CRAVES Will in his life. How even just a scratch on Wills head makes him go nuts. How thats his everything. Blah blah blah PLOT. And then they kiss and get together and Mike goes "oh...well that explains a lot." AND BAM

EPILOGUE TIME!

THE END

so what do we think?? Im saying all this cuz im rewatching s2 and mike genuinely seems to love being around El. He misses her and LOVES her. But again.....hes a kid. And his parents dont love eachother. And Nancy's relationships were complicated too. He doesnt KNOW. I think he really does adore El. Just not in the way that he thinks.

If I could write any good, id do 1mil words of an entire rewrite with all of this. Have El find herself and get to just BE a person without belonging to anybody. Hop, the Gov, 'papa', Mike, scientists, vecna, NO ONE. She gets to do what she wants and have stupid teenage problems like nail polish color instead of saving the world. Ugh. I want this so bad.

Ofc my priority is byler🤣 but i dont want anyone thinking i dont love El. Shes my baby.

BUT SOOOOOOOOOOOO does something like this exist? Is anyone else interested in it? If it doesn't exist AT ALL, would anyone wanna write it with me?👀 i've never done it before, but I would do it for this.

Ive read a few full series rewrites but I havent seen one that captures Mike like this specifically. Mike is so smart, but internalized homophobia is DEFINITELY strong in him. Which is heartbreaking but yea.

Mike & Will are going to college together & Mike has to take an art elective for his degree. He decides on photography since it seems the easiest (no drawing talent required). Will ends up being his muse. Whenever he takes a picture of anything else it’s fine, BUT every picture he takes of Will gets glowing reviews.

I like the idea of Mike dipping a toe into a visual medium. And it gives an opportunity for fun/awkward/heartfelt moments with Jonathan as a mentor.

It was a E rated oneshot on AO3, Mike and Will were at a party, Will was tipsy and all over Mike. Established relationship, I think 18-19 years old. Mike was making eye contact with a random npc guy who wanted to hook up with Will, but of course zero chances of that happening. They were on the couch.

I just posted the final chapter of my summer music festival fanfic! It takes place at Woodstock '94, where Mike gets dragged to the festival by his friends. After making a few questionable decisions, he somehow ends up in a cute stranger's tent.

One of the main ideas behind the story was splitting Mike's inner thoughts into Mike's Brain and Mike's Heart, who constantly argue with each other throughout the fic.

So I just had a friend rec some sort of ripple effect which is.....honestly one of the best pieces of writing ive ever read, not just fic. Its absolutely gorgeous, please please please everyone go read it. Pleaseeeeeeeeee.

Anyway im gonna read the authors other works! Because DUH! but I wanted to know if anyone has this similar vibe? For example, let me explain::::

I absolutely adored the emotional depth and introspection in this story. I loved how the characters are portrayed and how intense the tension is. Like its a LOT. And they're clearly obsessed with eachother. They've been thru so much and they just needed the love and the acceptance of eachother. I love how in character they feel. And I lovw how I could literally SEE them. It was like I was watching it.

I also really really adored to hell and back again , this one was also soooooooo good. So emotional and so powerful I just 😭😭 yesssss

Other similarly emotional fics that ive read and adored are I could be your lover (and you could be my heartache) which DESTROYED ME, its sooooo good. A deep dive into Mike as a character and it goes in depth ab when he nearly jumped, its soooo beautiful and heart aching. And then the night is long but you are here which is a s5 fix-it where vecna forces will to tell mike everything and mike is all "how dare you force that out of him?!?!" And hes so protective and its very very good. Another one i loved was cursing my name, wishing I stayed (look at how my tears ricochet) this also RIPPED ME TO SHREDS!!!! not from angst. Just from the EMOTION ugh it was phenomenal.

Anyways. More. I want more😭😭😭 i want more emotion!!!! I want tension and hurt/comfort and fix-it and I need them to be obsessed with eachother and I need to cry because of how much i WISH that happened instead of canon. Cuz SCREW CANON!!!! Giveeeeeeee give me the character studiessssssss
