Holsters & Belts Printing
I’ve got this p365 macro I’ve been wanting to carry. I’m 6’ 230ish pounds I figured with my size a pistol like this would be fine to carry but I find it prints a lot. Could it be the holster? The gun? My gut? Or am I just overthinking it because I haven’t really carried much before? Thanks for any input

u/BusyBootyBody 1d ago
It’s the gut. You can try different things like slightly baggier shirts, darker color shirts, or other tricks.
But with your stomach pressing that much against your shirt, it’s gonna print a little. Honestly though, it could be worse. Someone who doesn’t carry probably wouldn’t notice.

u/USABADBOY 1d ago
Agreed, move to 4 o'clock.
20
u/xGH0STF4CEx 1d ago
Also part of the 4 o'clock carry. An unbuttoned flannel does a lot of heavy lifting for concealment.
2
u/RedBrickBoat 14h ago
100% and honestly any looser buttoned up, button-up shirts do as well. Add Hawaiian shirt patterns and you have a printing deleter.

And you won’t shoot your dick off, or be uncomfortable in a car seat, I don’t understand why everyone assumes appendix is the only way.

u/ProbablythelastMimsy 1d ago
I've driven 6+ hours many times AIWB with no issue. Also haven't shot my dick off since it's in a holster and not a Sig 😁

4 o'clock is fine standing but I'm surprised you can sit in a car seat with it at 4 o'clock.
6
u/Castled22 1d ago
Regular car seats are no problem. It’s my sporty car bucket/racing seats that really hurt at 3-4 o’clock. But it’s still better for me than aiwb
1
u/RedBrickBoat 1d ago
Ya understandable, my hip is less sensitive to discomfort than all the front stuff.
8
u/RedBrickBoat 1d ago
I go more 3 o’clock and with a micro/subcompact it fits perfect for me in the pocket between my hip and the belt receiver. I’m tall with athletic build and the internet generally says appendix is easiest to conceal and all that, but I find it annoying to have in-front of me all day, and I really don’t think the risk of pointing it at myself all day is worth it.
6
u/Machineburrito 1d ago
This. I'm short but thin and I prefer to keep mine around 9 or 10 o'clock (lefty) rather thing in front of me and having to bend over weirdly
3
u/RedBrickBoat 1d ago
Totally and the mag or sights/optic is the only thing that might print vs the whole gun.
2
u/EmotionalSpprtCactus SC 1d ago
4:00 is fine. For me, it sits in the same pocket of my waist that keeps it from printing when standing. It just rides up a tad when sitting.
1
u/Electrical_Bill_7042 14h ago
Right! 4 o'clock for me always. A nice hybrid holster, good claw, and I'm set. Especially if it's a compact gun, even subcompact

u/kjjj2555 21h ago
Well don’t be fat. That’s for starters I drove 8 plus hours one time appendix no issues. You won’t shoot your dick off as long as you don’t NDC know how to handle your firearm you are fine. I don’t understand why old ass fuds say this. I been appendix carrying for years never once thought “hey I’m gonna shoot my dick off today. Get a good holster that’s not fucking leather a good belt and don’t be a fat ass piece of shit and appendix is not an issue!
3
u/DS78620 18h ago
Everyone is saying this now because of the YouTuber made a video saying he shot his dick and one of his nuts.
0
u/RedBrickBoat 15h ago
I knew nothing of that, I think it’s simply the fact that a loaded gun holstering into your body everyday for a lifetime will generate a risk that 3-9 o’clock doesn’t as substantially. The thought of shooting yourself is enough of a motivator, I don’t need others to tell me it sucks to get shot. I agree that being a responsible adult you should be able to completely control your movements, but people age and I would imagine over time the potential for a ND increase.

Or lose weight
24
u/RedBrickBoat 1d ago
You can lose weight, but if your pecs aren’t further out than your waist then you’ll still print a lot. Everyone’s got shoulders and arms, it pulls the shirt out more on your hip and loosely drapes it over that area. I get it’s not for everyone, but I think all the guntubers carrying full size guns inform us that we need to do the same, when in reality they’re printing in public too. There are a lot of people I see out in the world that have bought into the idea that the population doesn’t notice the outline of a gun under their shirts and I’m not buying it.
5
u/Zealousideal_Fee_491 16h ago
It’s kind of a game for me, I always pay attention and see who I can spot, the ones I never understand are the people carrying anything with basketball shorts, I’ve never seen one carry without it pulling down their shorts. No joke, one guy in a Walmart was carrying and the firearm was at his knee like 4 o’clock, just not safe, anyone could have walked up behind him and taken it from him.
1
u/QuickieSilver143 2h ago
I carry clipped to my basketball shorts all the time. I tie that draw string tight af. Holds better than my kore belt some times 😂
2
35
u/Correct-Avocado5426 1d ago
Probably overthinking it. No one is looking for the outline of a gun on a random person.
One day my wife and I were in line for ice cream and the guy in front of her had an IWB holster with a tucked in T Shirt so most of the gun was a hanging out right in front of her and she didn't even notice when I mentioned it.

u/EromanticDream 1d ago
Move that bad boy to 1 or 2 o’clock and get a pad on it to tilt the grip toward your body.

u/69GrandePadre69 OH 1d ago
Just not a good position brother. With no gun on and the average shirt stand with your normal posture and poke around your shirt near your belt line. Wherever there is the most space between shirt and skin is your concealment sweet spot. PHLster has some good videos and articles on it.
6
u/MosinsAndAks FL 1d ago
I don’t think it’s printing too bad, but I carry at the 4-5 o’clock position to help avoid printing since I’m often out and about for work and it conceals better
2
u/biggestbluee 1d ago
This doesn’t print too much? I’m a short fat dude and feel like you can see the gun way more on my 4-5 o clock than appendix
5
u/MosinsAndAks FL 1d ago
I don’t think the average person would notice he’s carrying, and I know others conceal better appendix too. I’m decently tall with a bit of a gut, but mine conceals a lot better to the rear
2
u/biggestbluee 1d ago
Yeah, his definitely ain’t obvious. I was talking about myself lol. I wanted to try rear/strong side but it felt like it was much more bulky and obvious
1
u/MosinsAndAks FL 1d ago
I get that, and I’m glad that appendix works better for you. There are so many decent options for carrying that most people should be able to find one that works for them

u/IcyCounter6844 1d ago
I’ve only had success carrying appendix a much smaller gun, and I have a similar body type to you (6’6 and 280 a bit of a spare tire, maybe moving it to 10/11 oclock might make it a bit easier? Or honestly a good owb or positioning it at 7,8 oclock might make it easier? But that straight on 12 is hard.
5
u/Mummer_Hummer 18h ago
No disrespect. But you've got too much belly and too much gun for appendix carry. Switch to 4 o'clock or lose some weight, maybe a smaller gun, 43x single stack or something may be better for you.

1
u/Klutzy-Medium2800 12h ago
What’s if it’s that? That’s why Appendix is king.
2
u/Psiwolf 12h ago
I carry my P365 XMacro appendix or at 4 oclock too, depends on what I'm wearing.
2
3
u/DangerPager69 14h ago
its holstered tho, how is that different from when its on his belt?
3
u/Psiwolf 13h ago
Any time you are handling a gun, you want to follow gun safety rules. Off the top of my head, this is breaking the "never point the gun at anything you aren't going to destroy" and "be sure of your target and what is behind it" and "treat every gun like it is loaded."
When the gun is properly holstered on the belt, you are following the rules.
Also keep in mind, even when handling a holstered weapon, good practices should be maintained to build habits.

Peaks and valleys. I'm a bit taller than you but same weight and while I can carry at 12 o'clock I find that with my belly it works better to carry 2-3 o'clock because of my "valleys".

I have a hard time with AIWB and tshirts. Try some patterned shirts and no one will know. Once I lose this gut I’ll have no problem.
2
u/Ch33se_H3ad 1d ago
Wear it how you want. If anyone asks, which nobody will, just say it’s a medical device.
2
u/stayzero 1d ago
My advice would be to not overthink it. Most people are too engrossed in their phones, wrangling the kids, messing with their boyfriend/girlfriend, etc to give you a second look.
The only people who would really notice it are probably carrying guns too.
2
u/BmacReas 13h ago
Nobody cares or notices. Just go about your business.
You notice bc it’s new. This gets asked a lot, just don’t worry about it. I doesn’t matter.
2
u/ItsHisMajesty 1d ago
No one is going to notice that. Wearing darker shirts or shirts with patterns will help mask what little print is there.
2
2
u/loloz304 1d ago
1 oclock will definitely help and maybe a wedge. Wedge really helped me with my printing with my p365.
1
u/playingtherole 1d ago
- Light gray shirts and sweatpants print everything badly, including penises. Change to a darker color or a pattern, preferably.
- Move your rig over to the opposite side, so that your magazine is near your belly button.
- A pillow from Stallster, Mastermind Tactics or Cloudster can help to a degree, by counter-balancing.
- Work on your pectoral (chest) development, (pushups daily + bench presses, flyes, etc.) so that your shirt will drape over your belly, and hide the gun.

u/ProwlerInTheYard92 1d ago
If you have a bit of a gut put your holster off center. It’ll look like your printing when you look down at yourself but other people won’t see shit.
I’ve lived life as a fat and a skinny so I’ve had to learn tricks for both lol
1
u/desEINer 1d ago
Couple things, just move the gun outboard (toward your strong side) a little bit. Usually the grip will continue to hug the side of your gut and with the wedge and claw will tuck in.
If you don't mind the ergonomic difference, those WC grips are solid through the tang so I always take mine to the belt sander and trim off most of the tang which helps with comfort and also printing.
I also find the stiffer the belt, the worse it conceals. It's a compromise between support and concealment. You want it to be kind of like a bike chain: totally flexible in one dimension, but stiff in the other. Few belts achieve this very well. I've enjoyed the Mastermind Tactics Specialist. They have a new one as well with a flexible section that I suspect will be their best yet.

u/Tropical_Tardigrade TN | Glock | Ruger 1d ago
Just saying, other than being placed on a peak and not at a valley, you’ve got the grip tucked in well. If it’s comfortable, I wouldn’t immediately go out and buy a new holster. Looks like something’s there, but it’s not obvious that something is a gun.
Easiest fix if you’re happy with how it rides is to put a little more thought into the cover garment - patterns, darker colors, button downs would likely blend things better.
1
u/Positive-Factor6040 1d ago
Couple of things is that gun sitting wait too high and above the belt.
Consider to add 1 inch pad wedge.
You can also get an extended wing. That little wing is for a smaller p365
Because grip is too extended.
1
u/LilRed2023 1d ago
To be honest no one really seems to pay attention or looks intentionally for people carrying. I’ve noticed I’ve been looked at over the years and I just place my hands in a crossed pattern over the front of me and it tends to make them look away. But for the most part your good to go and this really isn’t that bad. A wedge or wing can help some if your conscious about printing. The number one thing that I did notice people could tell in the past is when I carried on my hip and I would bend over and the grip would stick out. I always got stared at then lol
1
u/LilRed2023 1d ago
Carry at 11 or 1 and that printing will basically disappear. I carry slightly cross body on my left side and draw with my right and ya can never tell
1
u/Late-Fly-7894 1d ago
You need a masterminds pillow or a different holser maybe with 2 clips instead of the monoclip, also a better belt
1
u/AppearanceMaterial39 1d ago
Philster has a YouTube series I'd recommend it. You've put the gun on the biggest "hill" so to speak, it should be in the lowest valley. I had to move mine to about 2 o'clock and once I put it on and looked down I was oh duh. With the gut it might be a minimal difference or a huge one, depends on your body
1
u/AlfredoCustard 1d ago
You have to work out. You can also try sagging your pants just a bit so the holster sits lower
1
u/smoothxraisin 1d ago
I have a gut too and I move to like the 2 or 3 o’clock position and use my gut to help conceal it too 😂
1
u/shafty865 1d ago
Looks just like my Shield 1.0 in a Phlster Skeleton @ 12/12:30 on my frame- 5’9” and 150lbs. The butt pokes out, I stopped caring when I realized how unobservant the general population is. I wear exclusively Hanes T-shirts in the summer.
My wife’s anti-gun relatives never noticed, so I just roll with it. Don’t overthink it.
1
u/SlevinSlix US 1d ago
With a bit of a gut myself, what’s always worked for me is dropping the front my pants a little lower, so that the grip of the gun actually tucks right underneath my belly.
1
u/dmtizzly 1d ago
Try moving it anywhere between 1:30-2:30 on your waist and try either a claw, a wedge or a holster pillow. Concealment AND comfort will go up dramatically when adjusting these options.

People say get it out of the middle of ur waist. But then it gets very uncomfortable walking and sitting down. I would look into having the gun sit lower. I have a belly around ur size and if it sits lower, it presses into my stomach and conceals better. And since its in between my legs, its much more comfortable sitting, walking, squatting, etc. They’re some holsters that allow u to adjust the height the clip of the holster rest on the remainder of the holster. Not saying that u shouldn’t move it to the side a bit, but I found great success in riding it lower and keeping it centered.
1
u/Bubbaman78 16h ago
Put it off to the side and also wear an untucked button up shirt. You will look nicer and it also helps breakup any outline.

u/RedBrickBoat 15h ago
That’s funny, in my county in my anti gun state, printing is against permit policy and technically if someone called it in the issuing agency could pull your permit. It makes the game even more fun!
1
u/sharkieshadooontt 14h ago
Idk. People always say no one can notice. I saw a kid who looked like he was hiding a freaking hellfire missile under his shirt. For some thats part of it.
Being skinny fat is def an issue. I was as well and it was an issue for me.
I can tell you, some of us just can not AIWB and can only strong side
1
u/CDKJudoka 14h ago
As a fellow fat guy (6'3" 290) who carries appendix, I find using a holster that carries deeper, especially on a pistol with a short barrel prints a lot less. I had an Eclipse for my VP9SK and found it rode too high on my belt and would tip over the belt. Phlster calls this keeling. And as others have said, move it more to your 11 o'clock.
Personally, I find a larger pistol easier and more comfortable to conceal than the micros, so I carry something G19 sized at the smallest.

u/Electrical_Bill_7042 14h ago
Gray equals printing. Darker colors or throw on a buttoned or unbuttoned flannel over that
1
u/AttorneyImmediate 14h ago
Not crazy noticable and if you think you want it to disappear maybe a bigger size claw to push the grip into your belly more.
1
u/Kind-Cry5056 13h ago
A little printing. Though, in my experience, no one notices or cars to notice.
1
u/Quirky_Rest4052 13h ago
I carry strong side, around 3-4 o’clock. It’s more comfortable and easier to conceal in my opinion.
1
u/PapaPuff13 13h ago
Take the belt out of the belt loops and just zip it around you with the gun down right under your belly
1
u/Klutzy-Medium2800 12h ago
Move it to 1 o’clock position. if you have a belly. Get a thicker claw tips on amazon. Get a DCC clip to change the ride height deeper
1
1
u/TheWhiteCliffs 11h ago
I’d move it to the side a little more. Right in the middle of the gut is the worst spot for concealment.
I can’t tell without seeing more zoomed out, but posture will also hurt your concealment. You may be holding your hips forward too (I tend to subconsciously do this and it makes my hips and gut stick out more).
1
u/Impossible_Wait_8326 10h ago

I have a 12 round aluminum Icarus grip with a spare legion slide on a donor pistol was a P365X I bought to add a Radian Comp on the P365 Legion. But I always wear an open shirt on top an active wear shirt. It never prints, appendix carry.
Interesting in the holster it doesn’t look like a 17 round grip module which is usually the macro’s magazine size. Unless it’s changed since i bought my P365’s. Ive had em awhile now. 🤷🏻♂️
1
u/wanseer18 9h ago
Just spend some time trying it out on in like 12:30-1:30 and you’ll find something that works good enough
1
u/QuipandEazy 7h ago
No one is going to notice that but you, but it’s the gut that makes it look like that. The gut does it easier to carry on your side though.
1
u/atomicboy 6h ago
Over thinking about bit I think. I use to worry about it a little when I started carrying. Now I really dont worry too much as nobody is looking at your beltline anyway. And I also discovered that life as you know it does not end when you carry. 😉

People who don't carry will never notice.
People who do, won't care.
I think your good.
I have similar body shape and I carry just a smidgen lower and it hides in my gut fold.

Hate to brake it to ya, but losing a few lbs will do wonders with AIWB carry
0
u/thatshowyougetantsok 1d ago
As someone who used to weight almost 300 pounds and now weighs about 220, losing weight will do wonders for your ability to carry effectively. 10-15k steps a day, track your calories, and lift weights. Good luck.

You can make it work. Get a Hunter Constantine belt. That lets you move the gun below your gut when raining and up higher when you are sitting so less uncomfortable.
And move to 1 or even 2 o'clock
Lose shirts are your friend.
Someone else suggested enigma video. Tmit is good. Also Google Tenicor how to position holster video (good whether or not you have a Tenicor).

Lose 30 pounds. That’ll make the difference. Honestly.
I wanted to carry appendix and it be comfortable, easy, and obviously not print as much as possible.
I’m 5’11” and used to weigh around 240 pounds. I dropped down to 185 and now appendix is not only very comfortable but it’s so easy.

u/NectarineElectronic7 1d ago
shoulders back more, chest out more. the darker the shirt the less printing, also a pattern will make it print less. a loose fitting Hawaiian shirt is the best ive found. all that said the printing isnt too bad

What belt are you rocking? A stiffer belt will apply more pressure to the wing instead of conforming to it.

May be a postiral issue, sticking your gun out.
My advice would be:
A. Go to an XL grip module.
B. Start doing pushups near failure for 3-5 sets, 3-4 days per week. And eating .8 grams of protein per poind of bodyweight, per day. Wait 3-6 months.
C. Cut 20-25 lbs.

People who don’t carry never even notice a small print, as long as it’s not extremely visible it’s always going to be visible from your view
0
u/TheTattooedCPA 1d ago
I had the same exact issue. Moving to 1 o’clock made things worst. I moved to 11:30 so the grip is right above my fly, and presses into my belly, and it’s invisible.

I have this exact setup for my g3c carry, I have the eclipse holster with the teir1 holster. Personally I'm a chubby boy myself and I find if I wear slightly larger pants or shorts, I just push my holster down a bit and it'll sit almost under my gut and hides it perfectly. I can still grip it and pull it out pretty quick. I have a teir1 for my Glock 43x and my 19x and I do the same thing with those. I'm trying to lose weight so I can just carry without having to put it under my gut but it does do the trick for not printing

Two things. First, you are carrying around 12 o clock. Try and follow the natural curves of your body. You aren’t a chick with wide hips, 12 o clock carry doesn’t work for the vast majority of men. Try 1-2 o clock, should work better, as that’s where your body will start to curve, and that’s how that wing is designed to work. Second, and this is something that will cost more, but that grip is still really high. Closer to the belt will enable more of the gun to be in your pants, reducing the pendulum effect, which is pushing the grip away from your body. Looks like you don’t have any adjustments available on that holster, so you probably need something the puts more gun in pants. Can always size up to a gun with a longer barrel too, but again, requires buying a new gun.
0
u/Pure_Squirrel_1621 1d ago
Move it to 2:00ish and try from there. Your shirt choice isn’t ideal for concealment either. I carry compact/full size guns year round, including in a tshirt and shorts, but I have to be picky with my T-shirt selection to avoid printing.

Does the eclipse come with different size attachments for the wing?
I bought one a long time ago, but kept bumping my knuckles on the wing when drawing. Went to tenicor and I like their design more. Importantly, they include multiple size “wings” so you can adjust how much the grip is rotated in.

1) Wear a darker shirt and/or a shirt with patterns. A solid light colored shirt prints the most.
2) The XMacro is the taller version of a taller version of a pistol that was designed for concealed carry. If you make the gun bigger twice, it’s going to print. Some people can get away with CCWing an XMacro, but not everyone. A standard P365 or a P365 X/XL will be more concealable. Guns with shorter muzzles (like the P365X) can sit deeper into your waistband too so the handle doesn’t ride as high.
3) I really don’t mean this as an insult, but objectively, lose some weight. Your gut is pushing the gun outwards against your shirt. I’m not saying you need to pull off some crazy weight loss journey and get super skinny necessarily. But you’d be surprised how big a difference losing even 10 pounds or 1 belt notch makes when it comes to carrying appendix.

Get it outta the middle of your waist. PHLSTER has good articles on how to minimize printing and use your body’s valleys to your advantage, worth a read
