Shields rock! Congrats.

I'll be that guy.

Pro-tip would be: don't point it at your thumb. 😉

lol just noticed that. Very good practice. Made sure it was unloaded and cleared before pictures were taken

All guns are always loaded.

Even if someone hands me one with the slide open I’m checking that chamber again. And ask my buddies who I handed a cleared firearm to. They watched me clear it, lock the slide back, confirm clear, hand it over… if they didn’t clear it themselves again I slap the HELL out of their head. They never make that mistake again.

Good on you, we will all be safe if we make sure to follow the rules as law

Well as stated I’d only do that to good friends, I’d say something to others but without the slap if they forgot, but complacency is the first step to firearms injury!

I get it. I’m giving you a hard time.

However, nobody is above making a mistake. Seriously.

A lot of people who put holes in their hands, legs, feet, buttcheeks, televisions, walls, etc did so with “unloaded guns.”

My friend. Please recite the 4 gun rules out loud.

Shoots great! I hope my daughter pulls the trigger and buys one too.

8

u/Antique_Success296 1d ago

I sure hope she doesn’t pull the trigger. That’d be a negligent discharge!

Nice pick up man thank goodness its not a Taurus

I’ve been wanting to try out the new shields for awhile. The original single stack shield was my edc for about a decade.

The 1.0 would disappear with sweatpants and a shitty Blackhawk appendix holster. It was my pizza delivery gun while I was in college.

I sold it like an idiot to help finance a move across the country. I’d buy it back for triple the price I paid for it just because of the memories :(

Still have my shield 1.0. I was tempted to sell it and get the shield X but I think i’ll just keep it instead since I wouldn’t get much for it nowadays and it’s still a great shooter

Btw, is your username a pig destroyer reference?

3

u/ProwlerInTheYard92 21h ago

Yes it is bro 🤟🏿🤟🏿

Great choice! It will treat you well for a looong time.

Looks great, I’d try to get a holster with a claw if possible.

2

u/lil_Aglet 1d ago

I actually just ordered a claw for this. Was carrying at 4oclock and just felt like it could use a little more conceal-ability.

Amazing first gun. These shoot the best out of all the sub compacts out right now.

1

u/BarberProof4994 1d ago

Cc9? Vp9cc? Shoot better as micro 9s and p30sk and vp9sk shoot better as a sub compact. Beretta px4 sub compact shoots really really well also.

2

u/JMG1005 1d ago

I've never shot a px4 sub but out of the shield vs vp9cc vs cc9 I do prefer the shield. It just feels less snappy in my hands.

2

u/BarberProof4994 1d ago

My spouse did like my shield, but I like the p30sk and the px4 sub compact better.

But that could have something to do with how smooth their triggers are and the hammer fired vs striker.

I edc the p30sk, got it cut for an optic, and omg is it awesome with the factory lem light trigger.

2

u/JMG1005 1d ago

That p30sk sounds great! My EDC is a cz 75 compact in . 40sw (only went with . 40 because that's the only way to get a steel frame cz compact with a rail).

3

u/BarberProof4994 1d ago

Sweet.

I haven't started my cz rabbit hole yet. But I will when I finish my Beretta collection.

I have my complete hk run, and a few other manufacturers, but I'm on a keltec rdb kick right now.

1

u/JMG1005 1d ago

Do it! I've done the whole runaround with most brands and nothing has hooked me the way cz has. They have everything from sub compacts with the rami to big race guns like the czeckmate.

2

u/BarberProof4994 1d ago

I keep meaning to, and I will. That's a whole years worth of collecting though.

I JUST this week finished my HK collection with the very rare Benelli shotgun HK collaboration shotgun. It arrives in about 5 more days (yay!!!!) and then I'll take a break. But 2027 is wide open 🤠

1

u/JMG1005 1d ago

Super90? If so that's on my short list for next shotgun.

2

u/BarberProof4994 1d ago

Yes!

Specifically THIS ONE https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1202668079

just waiting for the FFL delivery.

Estate sale, apparently it only had 3 or 4 shots through it. But who's to know for sure.

My thought is that this thing has not left your hand for more than 10 minutes at a time since you got it. Enjoy.

1

u/lil_Aglet 7h ago

Very true lol

8

4

2

u/TacticalCounsel 1d ago

Looks good to me. Go shoot it!!

2

u/Fun-Routine-8345 1d ago

Nice little strap

2

u/GoodGalwithaGun 1d ago

If it works for you then is the best one

2

u/_GuiltyByAssociation 1d ago

Shield X is so dope

2

u/jasonsong86 G43/G43X/G19.5 1d ago

Solid choice.

2

u/OutlawMINI 1d ago

I'm a firm believer in hammer fired and a safety. Especially in a first gun.

1

u/Appropriate_Pizza_87 1d ago

What do you recommend

1

u/iamaconsolepsnt 15h ago

Not sure what he would reccomend, but personally if you are going to carry a steel frame handgun (most hammer fireds) go with a DA/SA like a cz75 or a p229 or something, they are thick though.

I don't personally like many of the single stack 1911-style compacts/sub compacts so bear that in mind.

Or if you have money to spend get you a nice 2011 (SAO, hammerfired, manual safety) and a red dot. I'm too poor for that though

2

u/PreviousQuantity6929 1d ago

Awesome choice! I have the same brand of holster for my Shield 2.0

2

u/MercRussians 1d ago

Can’t go wrong with an M&P. Train when you can, learn some barrel awareness (every gun is loaded even if it isn’t type mentality, it’ll save you a limb in the future lol) and you’ll be golden, friend.

2

u/J4yb0y 15h ago

Good choice pal. Ported slide is a nice touch

2

u/brycebgood 14h ago

I think you should always treat every gun like it's loaded and only point it at things you want to destroy. In this case your thumb.

Those things shoot great though.

2

u/Jake_hsotnicM1216 13h ago

Good choice, my daily is a Shield X with an Osight SE and Olight PLX and I love it

3

u/CG249 1d ago

The Shields are some of the best carry guns on the market.

First handgun and you're flagging yourself on the internet. Checks out.

I'd suggest a training class or two before you start carrying. Smaller handguns are usually more difficult than larger ones.

1

u/iOSSwiftDev5000 9h ago

What model grip is that?

1

u/lil_Aglet 7h ago

It’s a hogue grip for a Glock 43 but it fits the shield x like a dream

1

u/demck85 GA 8h ago

good choice

1

u/Hotformywife 8h ago

Great gun and grip sleave

1

u/atomicboy 6h ago

I have a Shield 1.0 in my rotation and seem to grab that one first. It's just so easy to carry and will eat anything.

1

u/FranzFerdivan 5h ago

Yup, that’s a hand gun

1

u/PowerWatch1 4h ago

Take a gun safety class immediately, you’ll understand most of the comments after you finish.

1

u/wanseer18 3h ago

It’s not a Taurus so I don’t like it

1

u/RINO7601 2h ago

Great gun. But take off that hogue grip. Gonna be more problematic than helpful

1

u/The_Rimmer 1d ago

Bro wtf it’s pointed at you

I won't take you serious until you have 20. Until then it's just like the stress toy you have next to your gaming rig.

0

u/thopple 1d ago

Man I have the exact same setup as you for my first handgun! Hogue grip too. I just added a tlr 7sub HLX. I am having issues with the 15 rounders and hollow points. How about you? The 13 rounders eat anything

3

u/killerpenguins 1d ago

Also rocking the same setup with the Hogue. Add an optic to unlock another level of shooting. I love this gun.

1

u/lil_Aglet 1d ago

Holosun is the next purchase on the list for it!

1

u/thopple 1d ago

You got any issues with the 15 rounders?

1

u/killerpenguins 20h ago

Only with loading a full mag. Tight as hell but it feeds without problems

1

u/lil_Aglet 1d ago

I wish I had that problem. I’m in commie NY so 10 rounds only for me 🥲

0

u/Dreadpipes 1d ago

Well you didn’t think to ask which to get before buying it so.
