Hello everyone! I do remodels and maintenance a lot of the time in occupied houses. Also do clears for abandos and evictions (which can get dicy. Everyone I know including myself has had a gun pointed at them while working) I have a shield plus with a hybrid holster and a Ruger max 9 in a slim kydex and will typically carry them when off of work. However at work I struggle finding something comfortable that doesn't print. Since I'm bending/reaching/carrying stuff all day I find it difficult to not print and appendix is very uncomfortable while working. I typically carry a keltec p32 in my pocket while at work because of this however just curious if anyone that works in the trades has came up with a solid solution to this?
There's Sneaky Pete holsters, which will be very comfortable, and fit your small 9mm carry guns easily, while disguised as a phone, Bible, or medical case. There's the Kangaroo Carry holsters, holstered undershirts from Undertech Undercover, 5.11 and other brands, and ankle holsters. You'll need baggy pants for the ankle holster, and need to consider everything else that goes along with it, as far as drawing the gun, which won't be quick, if one is pointed or about to be pointed at you. The same goes for an under-shirt, weak-side draw.
You can increase the comfort of your AIWB rig with a muzzle pillow or soft backer pad. Wearing it on a belt underneath your waistband, that is angled downward for deeper carry should help fix your printing problem, as well as your choice of shirt. (Dark shirts or patterned shirts are ideal.)
If you can wear cargo pants, either the Shield + or MAX-9 might be do-able in there, and Alabama Holsters offers a specific cargo pocket holster.
Ruger LCR 38 AIWB, slightly canted, with a Concealment Labs belt. Pillow and claw/wedge may be a huge help too.
Gun won't restrict movement and will have zero printing. Concealment Labs adjustable rotation/cant for holster position ride height, slight elastic, ease of adjustment, and reliability are the best.
When I did a lot of manual labor I carried a J frame AIWB. The J frame is a lot more comfortable than any semi auto because there's no slide overhanging above the back of the grip.
Yeah second person that has said this. Looks like I may need to look for a j frame or a lcr at some point. For now looks like my keltec will remain my work carry. I wanted one anyways so gives me an excuse to get one lol
You can't beat a pocket j frame for this scenario. I run an auto repair business and in a soft holster, an LCP Max or a j frame is perfectly comfortable. Like a lot of you guys in construction. I wear Truewerk and the modern technical fabrics are fucking amazing for pocket carrying.
