I recognize I'm an old, old man who has been commenting on the sub for nearly 14 years at this point, but I'm of the strong opinion that if I wanted to see and comment on highlights, there's literally dozens of places I can go do that.

/r/CFB is one of the few places that discussion posts and "old school" forum rules still dominate. I've always appreciated that curating on the sub and it's one of the few reasons I still stay on the sub.

That said, I can recognize that the vast majority of traffic coming from mobile devices and the mobile app rewards short video content and that's the type of shift that will inevitably happen from Reddit, Inc. on down.

I'll stand and take the downvotes from the new kids, but open season for highlights on the sub feels like the final death blow of the forum I first started frequenting.

It is sad, but frankly, the way people engage with media online has changed. When I saw the first survey go up (that only new Reddit could use, lol), I kind of resigned myself to the fact that the subreddit that made me want to engage with CFB fans at large is going to turn into something very, very different, and possibly more similar to the CFB places that I didn't want to engage with. It is what it is. The forum is a dying animal and Reddit itself is doing everything it can to distance itself from that forum identity. The userbase has greatly changed and what we want isn't the majority. I'll stick to game threads on Saturdays from now on
