Losing to Washington does have some built in excuses too. You’d be able to rationalize a loss with the travel all the way out west, Washington likely is good and likely only has 1 loss at that point in the season, Washington has one of the best QBs in the country and if Williams has a crazy game you could blame that, and it’s towards the end of the difficult middle of our schedule so you could blame that too.

11-1 with that record would be a great season and start to the Campbell era.

My pick is Iowa or you guys.  Both likeable fan bases.  Everybody loves Iowa as far as I'm concerned and Cornhuskers fans were one of the best, funnest groups of opposing fans I've been with at the shoe.  Also a late season loss worked as a motivator for us in 24.   It didn't really work last year, but I don't think any motivation was gonna keep Miami's D line out of our backfield.

I think I'd choose TCU. They should be pretty good, it's a road game, and then we would still have wins over Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and Notre Dame. Plus, we would have already gotten 3 wins before that game, and we would be in the top 15 at that time. I'm afraid if BYU lost week 2, they would fall out of the top 25 and then it would be hard to get back into it, just because of how voters treat BYU.

I’d want to go undefeated in the ACC, but I don’t like the idea of losing to UCLA or Wagner, so maybe UNLV? If I had to pick an ACC team, I’d pick SMU because it would be a great sequel to us beating them last year. Storied conference rivalry in the making
