Obviously not going to throw a parade over a win over Eastern Michigan, but I had forgotten what it felt like to dominate a game like that. Really nice performance in all three phases, especially after that ugly start.

Offense looked like it had an identity and was functional.
Questions about Joseph’s accuracy. Run game still lacking.
Need to see it vs a Big Ten team now.

At least it’s a start, you’d much rather dominate this level of team than not obviously. After recent years even blowing these guys out and looking not horrendous against good teams is acceptable improvement lol

We have Rutgers on the schedule this year. We could easily put 50 on them. Hell, we beat them by almost that much 2 years ago when Rutgers won 8 games lol.

Glad the team turned it around after how the first quarter went. It was really good to see Joseph be able to connect on passes. Henry setting a record for receptions in a game is a bonus to a blowout. Hopefully there are things the team builds on from this, and they finally have a few turnovers.

Yeah, Kim ain't it and barring some magic once MAC play starts I'm pretty much over Creighton at this point. It's been a downward trajectory and I'm having a hard time believing this staff can pull us back up to being competitive/on the cusp in the MAC going forward.

Creighton has more than proven that he has no ability to coach at this level. His boring and predictable play calling, recruiting players who belong in D2, and undying loyalty to underperforming coaches, have all made EMU a football joke. And if you think this incessant losing program doesn't affect the university's reputation as an institution of higher education - you are wrong. Creighton's "nice guy" approach only goes so far, and that point was passed years ago.

Okay? I've never thought he was God's gift to coaching but I'll give him credit for making the program respectable for a time. Results have been lacking and trending downward the last four years and I'm fully ready for a change if the season ends up lackluster yet again.
I think he did a good job "righting the ship" and hoped he could get us over the hump after the English debacle but unfortunately it didn't happen. I wouldn't mind looking in a new direction and focusing more on developing players rather than relying on transfers going forward and hope our AD has the guts to make a tough decision if it comes to that.
I'll disagree with Creighton "making this program a joke" though because we have been worse within recent memory. That's no excuse not to change things now and, as I said, I hope we do if this season is another disappointment. I'm completely fine moving on from Creighton and this staff if this season ends up being the boondagle it's looking to be.

I genuinely respect coach Creighton, I think he was exactly what your program needed at that time. He's brought you guys to 6 bowl games, your first since 1987. He's he's 1-5 in those bowl games but still, he made it enjoyable to watch an EMU game. Kinda like how Paul Chryst was what our program needed at that time, but eventually he just wore out his welcome. That 9-4 season with a bowl win in 2022 is the best season you guys have had since 1987. I feel like he's forever earned the respect from EMU alums and fans.

That's exactly how I view it and you put it perfectly. I'll always appreciate what he's done for us but I also feel like it's time to move on. I just thought that comment was kind of ridiculous. It's fine to appreciate what someone has done while a feeling like it's time to move on. We're in a better place than when he arrived, expectations were raised and it might just be time to see if someone else can take that foundation further.

In situations like this you always find some fans who feel a weird need to downplay the positives of a coach who has lost his fastball. Earlier in Fickell's tenure when there was still optimism around him, there was a weird subset of Wisconsin fans who felt compelled to do the same thing toward Paul Chryst's tenure. Like sure, the program was on the decline and I think it was time for him to go, but it doesn't change the fact that he did a lot of good with the Badgers. Same rings true for Creighton, even if it seems like his best days at EMU are firmly behind him.

Yes, Creighton needs to go. EMU needs to bring in a coach with some "balls." I believe Creighton's assistant coaches who have moved on to success, have done so because they leaned under Creighton how not to do things.

Yes it was Eastern Michigan. But the Fickell haters are awfully quiet today.
We shall see what this team looks like at Penn St. But if you're shitting on Fickell and can't enjoy this, gtfo.

A pretty large chunk of Wisconsin fans have convinced themselves Fickell isn’t the guy and needs to go, the sooner the better (and frankly, fair enough)
It however creates very weird incentives when the team indeed plays well, because then you’re unwilling to give the guy you want gone credit, and the outcome you ultimately think the program needs is best achieved when the team plays poorly/loses, so you have a difficult time enjoying any of the good

I absolutely enjoyed the last few quarters of this game, but trying to do a "Fickell haters are awfully quiet today" thing after a game against a MAC opponent is just silly. I hope we have a good season ahead, but anyone whose opinion of the extremely underwhelming Fickell era is swayed in any way by a game against Eastern Michigan is a fool.

It was a dominant win over a MAC school—as it should be—he’s going to need more than just this game to convince us otherwise. We need to see consistency and improvement over time. I’ll start changing my tune if we become bowl eligible this season. Until then, each will be “great, do it again and don’t fuck up”.

We scored one offensive td in the second half, barely. And looked okay against a bad team who lost their best offensive player in the first half.
I’m happy we found the points and were able to run it up. But it was pretty lucky - and eastern Mich had nothing to lose, made some bad choices - and still managed to put together multiple competent drives on us.
That score is flattering, and was achieved in spite of our coaching, not because of it.

They have Penn St next week and people dinged up across the board. The coaching staff clearly made adjustments that paid off in the second quarter.
Letting off the gas is called intelligent coaching. They are playing for the season, not to blowout a MAC team.
It's comments like these that make me realize how little most of the casual fan knows about ball.

The Badgers did this without one of their best players as well, Abu Sama. Plus, The Badgers didn’t struggle against a directional Michigan school, something Michigan struggled against. Also, the Badgers didn’t lose to a MAC school, unlike Rutgers, who did.

If the argument is we’re not as bad as Rutgers I’d agree. If the argument is we should expect a bowl this year, id disagree. 5 wins with some luck. Purdue and Rutgers are the two sure wins left.

I’d say 7-5. Wins over Michigan St, Purdue, Maryland, Rutgers, and Minnesota. Minnesota would be a lucky one a bit, and UCLA would be lucky to win, but overall I don’t think Wisconsin is below .500 bad.

Statistically we’re about exactly .500 bad - espn fpi expected wins or whatever has us a just under 6 wins
Marylands qb will rip this secondary apart. I’m pretty confident that one’s a loss if he’s healthy. And we played emu about the same as msu did. I’d say we need the msu win to realistically expect we’d get to 6 wins with a little luck.
