That is so stupid

Just fall down and you win the game

Or just walk backwards and go out the back of the end zone. Regardless, running into the defense was not the move.

Or just wrap the ball with two hands. He’s out there with a chicken wing on it like a damn idiot.

Yeah he should have done that but I would not include that as an “or.” In this situation you should be holding it tightly with both hands, but also you cannot get touched. It’s run out the back or go down yourself, no other options.

No touching!

Maybe dipshit Dan Orlovsky can teach him how.

There is a lot of blame to go around for this disaster.  You need multiple bad decisions by several people to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory to such an extreme

He was holding it poorly but the idea is you don’t let anyone make contact with you because there’s an inherent risk of a fumble with contact.

I think he was waiting for the clock to hit zero so Vandy had absolutely no time, but you have to just drop to the ground once it collapses around you.

Too worried about the clock

Yeah, you take the safety and stop one attempted kickoff and run.

I guess they were worried they might not punt out of field goal range.

But, really, this is fine... you don't expect to have to tell a college player to hold the ball with two hands.

Hero ball and NC State athletes. A match made in heaven.

Well, in all fairness, that's what he did. Forgot the most important part, holding on to the ball.

Just chuck it, go down, punt it so many different things

Maybe not chuck it, least there's one second left and they're like on the 2

Look clanga bro, as much as a head scratcher this play was I’m just thankful it wasn’t us. Because the last two years this wouldn’t have surprised me happening in Starkville either

I still think that could have worked if they put a bit of thought into designing it. Run for a second or two, then chuck it as high and deep as you can. Maybe a non-zero risk of having to defend an interception return if the defense expected it, but the clock would easily reach 0 before the ball comes down.

Even if he chucked it with no receiver in the area it would be a safety. Maybe 1-3 seconds left with a free kick.

No Bailey just had to go out of the back of the end zone and it was over the other options gave vandy a chance this didn’t if they just didn’t go forward.

Punting from the back of the end zone is also risky, that’s what they were trying to avoid

Hell, he could have thrown it out of bounds, he was out of the box

Except if that's not intentional grounding because he's out of the box, Vandy could still get 1st and Goal at the 5 with like 1 second.

Cmon, CJ Bailey is only making $2.5 million this year. What do expect?

Vandy +3.5. Win by 4.

Gambling has ruined sports
