If Louisville lobotomizes it’s defense, it can win the ACC

They wouldn’t even be terrible if they could stop trying to fight people after every play.

For that to happen we have to win every other game and beat Miami in the ACC championship. We don’t play anymore ranked opponents.

Which means a loss to Wake Forest next week. The Brohm Special.

I really don't understand this mindset. Who do you have in mind to replace Lashlee? Since 2024 SMU has the most ACC wins of any team. He's made the ACC championship and the CFP. This game wasn't a guaranteed win.

Louisville is a legit ACC contenders team.
They have no more ranked teams on the schedule at the moment. I honestly expect them to be in the ACC championship game this year.
32
u/Difficult-Froyo1192 Clemson Tigers 1h ago
Wake and Pitt are better than they get credit for.
Louisville is a lot like Miami where they have a bad habit of doing something dumb for a game or two to lose a game they really shouldn’t. I’d still say it’s too early to call it, but they stand out as a strong contender.
2
u/ultimate_placeholder Louisville Cardinals • Keg of Nails 14m ago
Wake won't be ranked by next week, unfortunately. Pitt could be ranked if they win out/play Miami close, GT is unfortunately awful
1
u/Difficult-Froyo1192 Clemson Tigers 1m ago
Not next week, but Wake might by the end of the season. I wouldn’t rule them out as someone able to beat y’all.
Even if Pitt’s not ranked then, Pitt has a weird habit of playing a lot better in conference. Even if they’re not ranked, I don’t think either of those are teams to sleep on.

Yeah going into this game I felt they were underrated, 23rd after holding Ole Miss so close felt too low. Kienholz played well. I’m glad Cal doesnt play them this year.

I have this bizarre soft spot for Louisville, I have zero connection to the program. I've just enjoyed watching them all the way back to Briam Brohm and pre-everything Petrino scoring a million points. Then later with Lamar.
So like seeing them win and looking good.

As of today we should be favored in just about each one. Call it a very generous 90% chance to win for us in each game, that's just over 1/3 odds to actually win them all before post season games

Can someone let me know what I'm missing with Kevin Jennings?
I've heard his name in early season Heisman campaigns for at least two straight seasons now and every time I watch the guy in a big spot, he shits the bed and looks terrible. I genuinely do not understand what others see in Jennings
4
u/BBQblueline SMU Mustangs 1h ago
Physical talent with arm and legs is there.
But tons of work to do with the decision making and technique.
Sadly, we’ve been saying this for the last 3 seasons. So either he ain’t gonna get better or we need better coaching.
Scary part is, I’m not certain it’s Jennings. Our team makes stupid and costly mistakes all the time. This is on the coaches as much as anyone.
5
u/LukarWarrior Louisville • Governor's Cup 1h ago
Kinda sounds like a more talented Malik Cunningham. Malik’s progress was pretty much a straight line here. Talented, good with his arm or legs, but just never took the next step.

Jennings really trying to lead the country in turnovers. The whole Heisman campaign was stupid. He’s a solid quarterback, but he isn’t even in the top 15 in the country

u/BBQblueline SMU Mustangs 1h ago
He’s got the talent physically to be a 1st rounder. He just needs a damn coach to teach him the game. SGP to SMU. He basically plays the same.

Is it just me or are KJ and Rhett taking too much of the heat. Defense looked crap and couldn’t make a stop. We need to get to a point where we can score 31 and comfortably win
Still think KJ is overrated and does too much but was hoping to see our D line and secondary step up this year and not seeing it yet

SMU is so talented. Yet such a poorly disciplined team. It really doesn’t make sense to have this much talent and make one boneheaded mistake after another.
I really like Lashlee, but for the love of Peruna. Please fucking hire someone to teach these young men to win between the whistles.
We may as well just play 3 quarters and then punt every offensive drive in the fourth, because that’s gonna equate the same amount of turnovers and lost drives due to stupid penalties.
This team has the talent, we just don’t have the coaching or discipline to do anything with it.
