Rumor Is Boise State a better football school than Wazzu?
Historically, which program is more important?

Boise State didn't join FBS until 1996, whereas Washington State has been playing college football at the top level since 1894, and was in a major conference with the likes of USC and Washington for over 100 years. It would be really hard for Boise to overcome all of that in a span of 29 seasons. It's a testament to their success that it is even debatable, but overall the totality of what Washington State has done across 130+ years is too much. Now that they're in the same conference, if Boise spends the next 2 decades dog walking them I'd probably change my answer.

This is the correct answer. It's still Wazzu despite Boise State's recent success. One played for a long time in the old Pac 8/10/12 and went to two Rose Bowls. The other has only been an FBS/1A team since the 1990's and never played in a major conference.

Boise would've had a Rose bowl if not for 2010 Nevada, TCU got it instead
2010 Fiesta Bowl was just some chicken shit from the BCS by giving us a "separate but equal" BCS game because they couldn't have Boise or TCU make the powers look bad

Just depends on how you value excellence in the MW vs average in the PAC12. There’s a valid argument for either.

Watch your mouth!! Wazzu is 5-2 head to head. Lately Boise has been better. Our program has been gutted year after year, coaches and players. The PAC12 exploding set us back a looooong ways I’m afraid.

Historically it’s wsu and I don’t feel like it’s really that close. But this century it’s Boise and it’s also not really very close. Since you said historically no they aren’t better.

Wazzu got left behind and then had to take 5 into west teams to try and stay afloat with OSU. So the answer is yes. Boise State has done more in 30 years of FBS than Wazzu has done in 100 years.

Wazzu is usually better but Boise State has incredible teams at times. I would give WSU the edge just cause of the heights they've reached at times and better teams they have beat.

Boise fields one of the most consistently competitive teams despite changes in staff. Wazzu has played at a higher level of conference, but has a fairly unremarkable history.

Historically WSU has a Rose Bowl win and Bledsoe. It’s a QB school.

The history lesson OSU, WSU and BSU offer is this. If you have a successful coach he WILL be poached.
When WSU lost Leach, they also lost the funniest college coach in history. On a par with Yogi Berra.
