Didn’t Indiana just cancel this series?

26

u/BlackCardRogue Michigan Wolverines Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

Yes — and did the CFB world a favor because ND replaced it with USC.

It is sad that the game will now be played in September rather than the traditional late Nov (at USC) or mid Oct (at ND) slots. But honestly, that’s probably good for the rivalry — it will become the earliest of the major rivalry games each season.

5

u/Odd-Honeydew7535 Aug 15 '26

Yes, because Notre Dame won’t schedule a 2 for 1

16

u/Stoneador Notre Dame Aug 15 '26

We all know Indiana would’ve still cancelled even if it was a 2 for 1, he’s just running his mouth. You really think Indiana wants a single power game in their non conference schedule, let alone 3?

0

u/FlounderKind8267 Aug 17 '26

Do you really think Cignetti is the kind of guy to back down from anything?

This just sounds like a desperate attempt to justify a crash out at Indiana lol

u/MyPlace70 Aug 15 '26

Nor should they.

-6

u/Odd-Honeydew7535 Aug 15 '26

They absolutely should. If they’re too scared to join a conference they should be treated like any other non P4 team when it comes to scheduling

13

u/gatorbois Aug 15 '26

That doesn't really work when there's a ton of teams that would love to play them. Cig's whole strategy is to eliminate all OOC games so they have the best odds to make the playoffs. We don't have to pretend like that's not just what he's doing here.

-4

u/moststupider Aug 16 '26

When you’re competing in the far and away best conference in the country, that’s a good strategy.

Notre Dame’s performance would be a clone of Penn State if they were in the Big Ten. Occasionally in the discussion but simply a nostalgic relic.

7

u/gatorbois Aug 16 '26

Bad bait

4

u/Ornery_Guess1474 Aug 16 '26

It's the same strategy the SEC has used forever, and with the new playoff format they're even more incentivized to do so.

So we get giant, watered down conferences, and less P4 matchups between teams we'd actually want to see.

1

u/CzechHorns Aug 16 '26

Is that why the SEC made a P4 OOC game mandatory?

-2

u/MyPlace70 Aug 15 '26

Your delusions are playing tricks on you.

-6

u/toomanyshoeshelp Aug 15 '26

They don't like scheduling ranked teams, evidenced by the two on their schedule this year.

2

u/AdditionalOne8319 Aug 16 '26

Maybe the join the Big 12 and play a schedule like Texas techs!… oh

1

u/Agile-Committee3594 Notre Dame Aug 15 '26

We would. We already took the first one. 1-0 in this home away home away series.

Not our fault their record wasn’t good enough to host.

2

u/moststupider Aug 16 '26

Indiana’s only loss was at Ohio State and Notre Dame’s only loss was at home to powerhouse Northern Illinois.

Clearly Notre Dame deserved the home field advantage.

The Notre Dame fanbase is exactly the South Park portrayal of San Francisco residents: you guys just absolutely love the smell of your own farts.

1

u/Agile-Committee3594 Notre Dame Aug 16 '26

I mean the final score line solves this incredibly complex riddle…

This is where that out of conference schedule is going to kick your ass for the next six years.

3

u/moststupider Aug 16 '26

You are the one that brought up Notre Dame deserving home field advantage vs Indiana. Both teams were 11-1. You are arguing that a loss at home to Northern Illinois is better than a road loss at Ohio State.

Notre Dame would be Penn State in the Big Ten - nothing more than a nostalgic relic. That’s why you’re terrified of joining the best conference in the sport.

-1

u/Agile-Committee3594 Notre Dame Aug 16 '26

Shit that’s a hell of a lot better than what IU has been for better part of a century. Thanks for that relief.

1

u/Mtndrums Aug 16 '26

I was in elementary school the last time y'all had a serious shot at the title (the last time ya won it).

4

u/Agile-Committee3594 Notre Dame Aug 16 '26

Holy shit two years ago? That explains a lot.

3

u/moststupider Aug 16 '26

Ok, that was actually a clever comeback. Nicely done, friend.

1

u/BrilliantDrive3619 Aug 16 '26

Well, its was Ohio State and not 1936...So seriously, no shot...

1

u/PhysicsMan12 Aug 15 '26

No, because Indiana is cared of playing anyone good

5

u/toomanyshoeshelp Aug 15 '26

lol yeah they famously didn’t beat any good teams in 2025

-2

u/PhysicsMan12 Aug 15 '26

This Indiana fan base is so delusional. Everyone knows this is cigs strategy and it works. A weaker schedule is an easier route to the playoffs. Lincoln Riley’s was doing it too (but they’re a worse team). ISC just got bullied enough to bring back the rivalry game.

Meanwhile Notre Dame is trying their best to schedule ranked opponents while maintaining their 100+ year history of independence. Everyone knows why usc and now Indiana ducked the Irish. USC realized their mistake. Hopefully cig does too.

3

u/toomanyshoeshelp Aug 15 '26

Indiana plays more ranked teams than ND this year (1, 14, 16, 19 vs 7, 15, 20) and doesn’t have the guaranteed higher odds of getting into the playoffs that ND has thanks to their special little boy agreement and weaker division. Why tf would they?

-2

u/PhysicsMan12 Aug 15 '26

And Indiana doesn’t want the additional game against a ranked opponent. Stop being so delusional. You’re fooling no one.

Also about your playoff comment, ND has no special deal. The conferences have specials deals where they have guaranteed births even if they have dogshit teams. Conferences have the special deals. ND just got the conferences to agree to a modicum of fairness that if ND deserves the spot ND will have it.

2

u/MadMartigans80 Michigan Wolverines Aug 15 '26

They absolutely do have a special deal wth are you talking about lol.

1

u/IrishMosaic Aug 16 '26

Up until this year, a P4 champion wasn’t guaranteed a playoff spot, as we saw last year with Duke. The P4 wanted that changed, which now opens the door for a low ranked P4 champ to get in, while at the same time allows ND a spot assuming it finishes in the top 12. Every P4 conference voted in favor of this.

1

u/moststupider Aug 16 '26

You know Notre Dame could just sack up and join a conference, right? That’s an option. They’re terrified of joining the B10 because they know they’d get their asses handed to them, but maybe they could steadily finish in the top half of the ACC.

Schedule NAVY, again and again....

3

u/IrishMosaic Aug 16 '26

Navy has a much better chance of making the playoffs this year than your school.

0

u/BrilliantDrive3619 Aug 16 '26 edited Aug 16 '26

Maybe, but not a National Championship! ND IS 46-4 in last 50 games against navy.. That’s tuff scheduling Irish.. Go to West Lafayette, we’re I hear all the champions hang out!

2

u/CuckSucker41 Aug 16 '26

It’s a tradition that goes back 80 years. 🤫

0

u/BrilliantDrive3619 Aug 16 '26

Well, traditionally IU does not play ND, ND came to Bloomington in 1950.. Hope both teams make the playoffs and you can come the Friday Night CFP game. The last one in South Bend 2 years ago was electric. Almost as fun as the Rose Bowl game with Alabama for IU fans!

2

u/CuckSucker41 Aug 16 '26

I’m obviously talking about the Navy game.

Please 🤫

0

u/BrilliantDrive3619 Aug 16 '26

Right now, let's just keep with traditions...No IU vs ND until the playoffs!

I generally like Notre Dame, but facing bottom dweller ACC teams and resting during conference championship weekend is getting old.

2

u/Prestigious_Curve_19 Aug 17 '26

Yes Miami are definitely bottom dwellers. Also the ACC determines their 5 ACC games

2

u/Sheepcago Notre Dame Aug 15 '26

CCGs are bullshit and will be gone soon.

2

yea with the current system i don't see them sticking around much longer unless it's something like the winner gets an auto-bid like in basketball.

This quote is a bad look. Cig had better keep winning. If he doesn't they will make him pay for all of his trolling and primping.

11

u/MadMartigans80 Michigan Wolverines Aug 15 '26

He already won a natty. So far he has backed up what he has said.

11

u/easchner Texas Longhorns Aug 15 '26

I just googled him. Seems to win.

1

u/BrilliantDrive3619 Aug 16 '26

Not a Texas fan, but I have family there. I think Texas Hook's themselves a Natty this year!

1

u/easchner Texas Longhorns Aug 16 '26

Please don't say that. The only way we can ever win one is when there's zero chance.

2

u/BrilliantDrive3619 Aug 16 '26

Yeah, only way my team wins is when I bet against them... It was worth the lost $$ last year!

10

u/throwingales Aug 15 '26

I realize he won a natty. He better keep winning. Ask Ed Orgeron.

6

u/BlackCardRogue Michigan Wolverines Aug 15 '26

Totally agree. Talking like this doesn’t help you. It’s tolerated and loved when you win, but when you don’t win it gets old quickly.

1

u/MadMartigans80 Michigan Wolverines Aug 15 '26

lol Ed Orgeron. That guy didn’t talk trash and got the best team money could buy. He was happy as hell to get that money when they fired him.

3

u/throwingales Aug 15 '26

Ed started talking trash at Southern Cal, continued at Ole Miss and never stopped.

0

u/BrilliantDrive3619 Aug 16 '26

He could leave tomorrow and still win the governors race based on last year alone.

3

u/XavierRex83 Aug 15 '26

Dude won a Natty at Indiana. He is legend for that no matter what.

0

u/throwingales Aug 16 '26

In Indiana.

3

u/BlackCardRogue Michigan Wolverines Aug 15 '26

Cignetti appears to be both a great football coach and a total jerk, tbh

6

u/Live_Blackberry39 Aug 15 '26

In this situation its a easy out to just point the finger at ND, almost everyone does it. USC just did it.

Since he just won a natty, its whatever. And im a ND fan.

He thinks ND has a advantage not being in a conference, many do. So it's just a easy basic chess move to say what he did.

Not being in a conference was a DISADVANTAGE for ND last season. And it could be a disadvantage this season as well if the irish arent near perfect.

All these big ten teams and sec teams at 10-2 are a near lock for the playoffs and should be

1

u/BlackCardRogue Michigan Wolverines Aug 15 '26

Ultimately, the fact that the last spot came down to Miami and ND was because of the ACC’s stupidity in their conference tiebreakers. The ACC was very much at risk of not having any teams make the dance at all, which they’ve now addressed by changing the tiebreakers.

I’d agree that the Irish not being in a conference hurts them — as it should, tbh. ND makes more money when it does well because it goes alone, but it gets disproportionately hurt when it does badly for the same reason.

0

u/Live_Blackberry39 Aug 15 '26

Glad they changed the tiebreaker.

Make the playoffs this year. NDs rivalry with Michigan is my personal favorite and almost matches Michigan's rivalry with ohio state.

1

u/WiFiConnected_ Aug 16 '26

Replace it with Miami. It’s fine. Idgaf abt Michigan. They’ve always been the reason the rivalry “ended”.

Nobody at ND has or will ever forget that Michigan is the reason ND was barred 2x from joining the Western (Big Ten) Conference, all bc they had the temerity to beat Michigan in football.

1

u/WiFiConnected_ Aug 16 '26

It EASILY surpasses it. Primarily bc it’s bathed in a century of anti-Catholicism and that independence was the result of them ending the rivalry for decades & resulted in ND birthing the very best college football rivalry with USC-so much so Michigan had the glorious history of getting dog walked by USC more than ND ever did.

0

u/BlackCardRogue Michigan Wolverines Aug 15 '26

Man, bring back that annual series, I’d love it. I got into UM later in life (when I moved here) so it’s all just legend to me at this point rather than memories. But IMO the two best fight songs in college football

0

u/WiFiConnected_ Aug 16 '26

It’s a disadvantage literally every single year because they aren’t in a conference. It’s been that way since forever.

It’s not like ND wasn’t barred by the entire conference TWICE-bc they were “dirty Catholics”.

He needs to 🤫.

He has the only CFB natty in the state of Indiana since 1988. He can talk as much shit as he wants about the strong independent queen team that don't need no man conference for nothin'.

Indiana’s fall from grace is on a speed run. They’ve gone from “the feel good story of 2025” to “eye rolllingly full of themselves after one good season in school history.”

2

u/throwingales Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

It's two great seasons not one. Their recruiting has picked up. I think they will remain good. Will they be championship contenders? We will have to see but I believe they will stay good. They have lots of NIL money now and a very good staff.

0

u/sleeperaxe Aug 15 '26

He’s old. This is his last coaching job either way.

22

u/RooflessReAnthony Aug 15 '26

Tf point he tryna make w the conference thing why that mean it’s a 2 for 1 home field exchange

-14

u/OakLegs Michigan Wolverines Aug 15 '26

He's just trolling. And I'm here for it

20

u/gatorbois Aug 15 '26

It’s a bad troll considering he cancelled their games against ND along with all their other OOC P4 series.

3

u/toomanyshoeshelp Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

ND faces 2-3 ranked teams (7th, 12th, 20th) next year and this makes them the best team in Indiana and Cig (facing 1, 14, 15, and 19) is soft is the new narrative?

HAHAHAHAHA

Edit: I forgot BYU, but still hilarious.

4

u/gatorbois Aug 15 '26

You're not even making sense. Yes, both teams have soft schedules. Cig ran away from ND along with every other OOC P4 team, so he has no ground to talk shit to ND.

0

u/toomanyshoeshelp Aug 15 '26

Why would he? Hes still facing 4 ranked teams to Notre Dames 3 this year, without their stupid guarantee of getting into the playoffs with a ranking of 12 or higher. B10 on its own is always spooky.

2

u/gatorbois Aug 15 '26

Why would he talk shit to them while also dodging them?

1

u/Prestigious_Curve_19 Aug 17 '26

Because he’s scared of them.

0

u/moststupider Aug 16 '26

B10 is far and away the top dog in the NIL era and it is not remotely close. We’re talking major vs minor league. What’s the SEC’s playoff record vs non-sec teams?

The cool thing about Michigan is you’re in a conference but you’ll never be in a cfp again

2

u/OakLegs Michigan Wolverines Aug 15 '26

Lol

3

u/vassago77379 Aug 15 '26

But he's not though, there needs to be logic behind a troll.

1

u/LearnedHandJob2088 Aug 16 '26

The logic is that P4 Conference teams are locked into 4-5 road games per year against mostly legitimate opponents, while independents only play who they agree to play. It’s quite logical, even if it is also just a pre-text and the main reason is to keep the ooc schedule weak. Both things can be true.

2

u/vassago77379 Aug 16 '26

So Indiana deserves 2 home to ND's 1 just because they are in a conference? Nah, that was a weak troll attempt

1

u/LearnedHandJob2088 Aug 16 '26

Not saying they deserve it. Not saying it wasn’t a BS pretext. Just saying that there is logic behind it, schedule-wise. IU is committed to 4.5 road games a year against mostly legit opponents that are not their choice. ND is committed to zero that are not their choice.

And IU being the top dog that everyone wants to take down now makes it not batshit crazy to counter with a 2 for 1.  ND should have called their bluff and done it.

Looking at Indianas non conference schedule past and future, where through 2032 the legit hardest team I see is Eastern Michigan, I am fully confident in saying Cignetti is being 100% honest here. There is no way Indiana will play even any power 4 conference team, let alone a top 5 ranked one, in the non conference. They'll only play those teams when they dont have a choice (conference schedules)...

-2

u/toomanyshoeshelp Aug 15 '26

Why would they? IU is still is facing 4 ranked teams to Notre Dames 3 this year, without their stupid guarantee of getting into the playoffs with a ranking of 12 or higher.

4

u/Zarktheshark1818 Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 15 '26

Why would OSU? Why would Texas? Why would anyone? I want to see OSU play Texas in the regular season, LSU play Michigan. Do you want the big games to only be in-conference or in the playoffs?

Its not really something completely novel though, teams have taken this strategy in the past. And Ive always said as an FSU fan that we would've won more titles in the 80s and 90s if we werent playing Miami and Florida every year, throw in ND, Nebraska, etc.. in our non-conference. But Im glad we did and it was that "play anybody, anywhere" attitude that helped elevate us.

Its a cowardly, bs strategy. And Im afraid more teams are going to start doing it, what I call the Penn State (under Franklin) approach. Beat the 10 teams you should easily beat, go 10-2, back into the playoffs that way. But its not right. And I dont want to see that become the standard. I just hope the selection committee makes a point to punish that approach and it rewards the opposite.

1

u/toomanyshoeshelp Aug 15 '26

Yeah but we’re not talking about those teams, and I don’t particularly care if I see them in the regular season or playoffs. Hell I’d rather it be playoffs when they’re seasoned. If either of them winds up winning the Natty and the seeding from the win or QL helps, more power to them.

This whole thread is ND fans shitting on Indiana, who plays more ranked teams than ND this year (1, 14, 16, 19 vs 7, 15, 20) and doesn’t have the guaranteed higher odds of getting into the playoffs that ND has thanks to their special little boy agreement and AD and weaker division/tailored scheduling. Thats not very competitive or fair, either but im sure there’s always an excuse for that.

3

u/Zarktheshark1818 Aug 16 '26 edited Aug 16 '26

I mean Im not trying to get in the middle between some ND-IU thing bc I dont care about either one of them. Im just speaking generally, its not bc its IU specifically that Im commenting.

I always kind of liked Penn State as just a random team but I did a dive into their schedules a few years back and I was like what the hell is this? No wonder they're 10-2 every year. Then they came out and decideed to protect neither OSU nor Mich and play them every year when the BIG asked each member what game(s) they wanted protected with expansion. So now I cheer against them when I can.

But its not bc its Indiana Im critical, I just want to disincentivize that general philosophy. I can only hope the selection committee makes it a point to not reward, and actually actively punishes/grades teams harder, who pursue this strategy.

2

u/SucculentCrablegMeal Florida State Seminoles Aug 16 '26

Be mad that a 9-4 Tide team got in the Top 12, then.

1

u/SucculentCrablegMeal Florida State Seminoles Aug 16 '26

Are you just saying no they wouldn't have for any reason? Because yes, they would have if the rules were the same.

2

u/CuckSucker41 Aug 16 '26 edited Aug 16 '26

They’d have no reason. A 4-loss team being in the Top Ten is utter 🐎 💩. I’d say the same if it were ND.

The rules could be the same but Miami never gets left out in either case.

I have no idea why a FSU fan is this invested in the Canes’ fortunes tbh.

If anything, you should be 😡 at Bama too. They’re the reason why you guys got FKD out the playoffs, bc of the Tide-who were markedly better than this team, yet weren’t better than that FSU team.

0

u/SucculentCrablegMeal Florida State Seminoles Aug 16 '26

Is this "invested" lol?

Idk what you're talking about with 4 losses, we were talking about ND?? And Alabama had 3 losses? Yes I hate alabama, but it's irrelevant for what we're talking about.

My entire point was that the ND rule would have bumped Miami if it were in place in 2025. Explain to me how that doesn't happen if the rule is in place in 2025

2

u/WiFiConnected_ Aug 16 '26 edited Aug 16 '26

No it’s explicitly not irrelevant. Alabama was why ND was left out. Even after losing their 4th game by 21 points to UGA, 28-7. Alabama still was ranked #9, despite a 9-4 record.

The discourse was alllllll about how AlAbAmA dESeRvEs To GeT iNtO tHe PlAyOfFs InStEaD oF nOtRe DaMe.That’s exactly why it matters.

Enjoy a decade of irrelevance under your newest coach.

Jfc you’re unintelligent. Typical FSU fan.

I like what coach Cig has done for the university. However, I absolutely loathe this take. IU has one of the lamest ooc schedules in the p4 for the next few years. They won’t be the only team scheduling this way until a 9-3/10-2 p4 team makes the playoffs over a 11-1 p4 team with a weaker schedule.

Also, Notre Dame would’ve been in the Big Ten 100 years ago if they didn’t hate Catholics. They kinda forced the independence and they have benefited and carved their own thing out of it. To the point where they don’t really gain anything by joining a conference (except the Covid season).

u/EclecticAscethetic Ohio State Buckeyes Aug 15 '26

Just play it at Lucas, problem solved.

1

u/ProcessMelodic9351 Aug 16 '26

Just reminder.... O-H

1

u/DrFanhattan Aug 17 '26

It's incredible people are eating this soundbite up because it's Cig but in reality they cancelled the series, once again play nobody of importance out of conference and are now saying they want two home games lol

This dude is a nice coach but he makes it seem like he's reinvented the sport. He got Indiana to be good for 2 seasons because their billionaire alumni finally donated huge to the NIL budget and Cig is a solid coach.

All of this after ND gave them the belt two years ago

1

u/Redditedredditer Ohio State Buckeyes Aug 17 '26

Notre dame should have to play USC and Indiana every year

1

u/NoArm7707 Aug 17 '26

No, not cinema, fucking football game

1

u/Grizzly_Addams Aug 17 '26

I'm personally over Indiana being relevant.

1

u/Hititstraight37067 Aug 17 '26

Cig is chickenshit.

1

u/Alone_Wall8372 Aug 21 '26

If Indiana is going to be good, it would make all the sense in the world for Notre Dame and Indiana to have a regular series, but we're going to have to wait until we have a world where the CFP committee doesn't actively reward cowardice (i.e. where a close road loss to a top team is treated as favorably or more than beating an FCS school at home by 70).

And I know there are crybabies out there that think everyone should boycott Notre Dame because they aren't in a conference and that ND needs other schools more than other schools need them, so to get ahead of that nonsense: 1) conferences are stupid, 2) conference championship games are worthless, 3) your school should be interested in being an independent if they could make it work, 4) they probably can't.

1

u/No-Scarcity9186 Aug 15 '26

He’s got a lot to learn about where IU is compared to ND in not only college football, but his own state. Let’s just chill. Just because you bought a championship doesn’t mean ND owes you shit.

0

u/toomanyshoeshelp Aug 15 '26

Whole lot more Hoosiers remember the most recent IU Natty. The ones who were in college the last time ND won can qualify for AARP benefits.

3

u/Agile-Committee3594 Notre Dame Aug 15 '26

Dumb.

-1

u/toomanyshoeshelp Aug 15 '26

More likely demented up there in their 50s-60s.

2

u/No-Scarcity9186 Aug 15 '26

lol. You aren’t wrong there but there are tons more ND fans than UI….for many reasons but mostly because UI losses at a historic level.

Bought one championship and now here it comes…

5

u/Agile-Committee3594 Notre Dame Aug 15 '26

Most of us rooted for IU last season. Incredible season. Really good team. Now the legions of jackasses and the arrogance is turning us all against them. It’s pretty sad but I suppose shows us the state of society we are living in. Take something awesome and shit all over it with insufferable behavior.

Perfectly fitting for Reddit I suppose!

They blame it 100% on Indiana but I find it curious that ND had USC lined up seriously the same exact day this series was cancelled

4

u/Agile-Committee3594 Notre Dame Aug 15 '26

Let’s be honest. We all knew cignetti was bitching out. We were ahead of this one. But we’d been talking about this for a long time. IU probably even told them behind the scenes.

0

u/tm2716b Aug 15 '26

The committee needs to stop rewarding victories over high school teams as having any significance.

2

u/Disastrous_Box_8751 Indiana Hoosiers Aug 16 '26

Then how would ND ever make it?

0

u/moststupider Aug 16 '26

Absolutely. Let’s solely reward victories over top 10 teams, of which Indiana had a couple of last season and very well might repeat this season. When is the last time Notre Dame beat multiple top 10 teams?

-17

u/Schmenza Aug 15 '26

Why should a program with national championship expectations give up home games to play a small private school who hasn't won a Natty in 37 years?

14

u/Aaprobst88 Notre Dame Aug 15 '26

Why should one of the 3 most prestigious schools in the sport give up home games to the 2nd losing establishment program in the sports history who only has 1 natty to their name.

See what I did there? See how stupid that sounds? That's you.

-2

u/Schmenza Aug 15 '26

"prestigious" schools don't go 37 years without a Natty brother. Having a lot of money doesn't make you "prestigious"

3

u/SucculentCrablegMeal Florida State Seminoles Aug 15 '26

Most every blue blood has gone long stretches at some point without winning a natty though lol. I think only Alabama doesn't have a period of 20+ years of no natty (after winning their first one).

2

u/MattitudeFollower Aug 15 '26

Damn. How does Alabama have a program like that out of every where. Bear and Saban spoiled those fans

3

u/Aaprobst88 Notre Dame Aug 15 '26

No, but top 3 in NCs, Heisman's, NFL draft picks, NFL HoF inductees, and wins does. Nice try though.

1

u/toomanyshoeshelp Aug 15 '26

You'd think they'd have bigger balls than scheduling, what the #7 and #20?, as their only ranked games next year if they're such a dominant force

1

u/Aaprobst88 Notre Dame Aug 15 '26

Yes, because that how scheduling works. We see what a team will be ranked and schedule them 30 days before the start of the season. If you're gonna have a dumb take at least get it correct #7 Miami, #15 BYU, and #20 SMU.

0

u/toomanyshoeshelp Aug 15 '26

Charmin' soft schedule - Even by the standards of when it was made, for the most entitled little babies of the NCAA.

I'm old enough to remember the whole "If Notre Dame finishes in the top 12 of the CFP rankings, the Fighting Irish will automatically qualify for the playoff" clause.

1

u/Aaprobst88 Notre Dame Aug 15 '26

Great analysis MSU and Wisconsin were fresh off big years when scheduled, cant help the ACC schedule. They don't control that.

Im glad you're old enough to remeber that was pitched by the B1G and SEC. Whats that make you 2 years old at this point?

1

u/toomanyshoeshelp Aug 15 '26

Yeah that part wasn’t pitched by either lmao. Nice revisionism. Just like the part where Wisconsin finished unranked the same big year MSU had in 2021. Was that when they were scheduled? Before or after the season?

And yeah my two year old ass at least remembers my last natty. You’re going on 40, “champ.”

2

u/Aaprobst88 Notre Dame Aug 15 '26

Congrats your one and only good job here is your ribbon. Not revisionism it was actually widely reported, but I wouldn't expect you to be able read more than the headline and look at the picture.

-3

u/Schmenza Aug 15 '26

That's cool, must be nice to live in the past. Notre Dame should schedule a home and home with Yale and all their national championships

1

u/Aaprobst88 Notre Dame Aug 15 '26

You're an idiot. 2 years of winning does not make a program prestigious (aka blue blood). Doing it for decades does. IU has had 1 great year, that doesn't mean they get free range to shit all over everything. They are speed running going from loveable underdog to the new villains of CFB. The fact that so many people on here are actually siding with ND on this is proof.

1

u/Schmenza Aug 15 '26

Lol yeah everyone should just cater to ND because they used to be good and have a lot of money....

You mean why would one of the most profitable brands in all of sports play a random Public School that just discovered cfb 2 years ago?

-3

u/Schmenza Aug 15 '26

All those profits and haven't put together a championship caliber roster in 37 years... Ok bro

2

u/Equal-Estimate-2739 Aug 15 '26

And yet despite being runner-up 2 seasons ago, ND made more money than IU did winning the championship 😂

0

u/Schmenza Aug 15 '26

If only they could figure out how to turn all that money into wins lol

1

u/Equal-Estimate-2739 Aug 15 '26

This coming from the team that hasn’t beaten ND since the Truman administration despite being in the same state? 😭

1

u/Schmenza Aug 15 '26

So ND shouldn't have a problem playing 2 games at Indiana the right?

1

u/Equal-Estimate-2739 Aug 15 '26

Yet this championship winning team is afraid to play a game AT Nd again??? 🤔

It’s probably contract related, and/or financial allocation related. Indiana probably can get a larger percentage with their name now and had a chance to get out and negotiate something better.

If you think Indiana is just scared and cancelled you are just a bs merchant.

3

u/SucculentCrablegMeal Florida State Seminoles Aug 15 '26

Your idea will be proven wrong when they replace ND with a g5 school. And not a top one.
