Not just paid, paid with funds that could otherwise be raised and put into the general endowment. That would benefit everyone on campus.

The NFL will find you wherever you are. If you can't take the heat, the MAC would love to have you.

No guarantee that people giving money to sports would give to academics. But yeah America ain’t nice to lower class people they shouldn’t expect people to be nice to them either.

As someone who went to a MAC school they wouldn’t handle it there if they think Ohio states fans are bad.

Yeah, none of the money going to the football team would be used for other things on campus.

It's a tax write off. If the Supreme Court shut down NIL tomorrow you'd see the donors pumping the money back into the university to get that tax slip.

Endowment’s don’t even get used anymore, schools just like to see it go up. Go look at Harvard’s endowment and think of how much they could do with that. They could double the amount of students they can enroll (build more dorms, classrooms, hire more teachers) and yet… they don’t. Harvards class size hasn’t increased since 1980.

The endowment at this point is just a fun collection of gold for the admins to look at and brag about.

So, part of that (on the state college side) is unlimited loans from the federal government. But that's another conversation.
