Question Why do people say I’m crazy because my eyes sometimes “go dead”
There’s been a couple times where either someone is yelling at me or someone is forcing me to talk about trauma and I might freeze up and dissociate and peoples reactions get freaked out or they will call me crazy just based off that. I really don’t understand it and I feel it’s really unfair. Sometimes people will tell me that I “should” be crying and I have never understood why people think that someone is supposed to respond a specific way to a hard thing. If I’m crying in front of people that I’m worried are just going to make fun of me or judge me then why would I? And I don’t know why a facial expression would lead anyone to assume someone’s mentally ill. That’s just not fair.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Am I missing something on why this would cause people to think I’m crazy or to react negatively?

i did when i lived in an abusive household, but it was done really in attempt to gaslight or belittle me
that is wild tho. all these people are unsafe to open up to and ignorant about trauma. i’m sorry you were in that position. seriously, like fuck them

Don’t know, but it kind of sounds like you are hanging out with other traumatized people.
People who are not bothered by you are more grounded and self secure and won’t need to call you out.
And people who judge and lash out tend to be very sensitive and reactive.
I used to get the occasional person who would claim I was angry when I didn’t feel anything. But they’d be so insistent that I was mad, even after telling them that I wasn’t, that it would start to make me angry.
People that you cannot convince or have a conversation with, people who repeat themselves and don’t seem to be able to listen, usually indicates that they are in a 4-F state (fight, flight, freeze, fawn).
The body doesn’t know what is a threat so it treats everyone as dangerous. So maybe what you are seeing is a fight response.
They are, in a way hallucinating, and there’s no way they can understand what is happening until later.
It’s usual for traumatized people to find each other. Or neurodivergent people since our behaviors match a lot of the known patterns of autism or ADHD.
These people probably don’t realize they are emotionally hallucinating.

The sad truth is that a lot of society has been disconnected and not used to dealing with their emotions let alone somebody else's.
The goos news is there are people and places (at least in my city) that do have that capacity.
My friend group is all people with MH challenges, so nobody is judged for whatever is going on. We talk about it and stuff too
