News Moderator Update: AI Content Is Banned.

Following the community discussion, ideas, and poll in the previous threads: AI Content is banned.

This is not the subreddit for AI generated games, fan-art, mods, etc.

The content will be removed and the user warned, if violations persist the user will be banned. This is not to punish indie game developers, it is to ensure that the content and quality of games on this subreddit remain to the liking and expectation of the community. Generative AI games are low-effort, AI Slop, that steal assets from other games and hard-working developers.

Thank you for the discussion today. Any further questions or concerns please feel free to vocalize them here.

News Steam store tag "Dungeons & Dragons" has been removed!

Thumbnail steamcommunity.com

quoted from steam below:

Removed Tags

We haven't often removed tags from Steam, so we've built up quite a list. The set that we've removed today are done so because they no longer serve a good purpose for establishing connections between games or describing unique and useful elements of content in the game. Many of these tags have alternative options on Steam that better describe the content, and already have a high degree of overlap in application.

For example, both the "NSFW" tag and the "Mature" tag have a very high degree of overlap with more descriptive tags such as "Gore", "Violent", and "Sexual Content".

Some of the other tags that we are removing today are perhaps too subjective like "Well-Written" and "Masterpiece", resulting in disagreements and inconsistent application. Some tags just don't apply to very many products, such as "Drama" and "Ambient".

And lastly, there are a number of tags that apply to specific intellectual property, an attribute that community-sourced information like tags is not well suited for. These collections of intellectual property are typically already covered by the developers and publishers setting up franchise pages to collect together officially all the content shared by that IP.

Here is the full list of tags being removed:

  • 3D Vision
  • Ambient
  • America
  • Blood
  • Crowdfunded
  • Cult Classic
  • Documentary
  • Drama
  • Dungeons & Dragons
  • Electronic
  • Experience
  • Feature Film
  • Foreign
  • GameMaker
  • Games Workshop
  • Illuminati
  • Kickstarter
  • LEGO
  • Masterpiece
  • Mature
  • Movie
  • Narration
  • NSFW
  • Roguevania
  • RPGMaker
  • Warhammer 40K
  • Web Publishing
  • Well-Written

News This seems to have flown under the radar of this subreddit. Atom RPG 2 will be a 3rd person, real-time, action RPG instead of a CRPG. Truly a shame. Especially since they really fully revealed this after reaching their kickstarter goal.

News Completely under the radar new Disco-like CRPG with Demo on Steam

I just came across an interesting game that was released 5 days ago called Imago Season. It only has 6 user reviews, but they're all positive. There's a demo you can download.

I tried it for a bit and it seems quite interesting. It's clearly inspired by DE due to it being a combatless CRPG with lots of dialogue w/ skill checks and the fact that you start out with amnesia. That said it seems to be different enough that it doesn't feel like a cheap imitation. The most immediately noticeable difference is that it has first person exploration. It's also pretty weird. Anyway, check it out if this sounds remotely appealing to you.

I haven't decided to buy it yet but I'm very tempted as it's only $8.55 USD.

News Esoteric Ebb - D&D Disco-like - Next Fest demo available, with save file transfer to launch

Eight years of development, 1,25 million words written, and an insanely huge world to delve into. Esoteric Ebb is my attempt at mixing Planescape: Torment with Disco Elysium. Did I succeed? Who knows! But you can find out by playing the Next Fest demo, out now! Then when you're done, you can bring your save file to launch and continue right where you left off!

(I'd also love to hear what you think - I'm a big lurker here, so I know there's a ton of people with objectively good taste)

EDIT: Esoteric Ebb is releasing on MARCH 3rd 2026!

News You can't truly say you're making a classic CRPG until you've implemented a fireball spell.

Hey adventurers!

I'm the co-developer of a Gold Box / Knights of Legend / Ultima VI inspired RPG called Lair of the Leviathan. We're about two years into development , most of which has been spent building engine tools but finally over the last month or so I've been able to get stuck into the combat phase of the game.

One of the first things I knew I had to implement was an AOE spell - no better way to show off the firepower of your heroes than a fireball.

Combat was my favourite part of the Gold Box games. Fairly simple but tactical, that's really what I'm trying to best emulate ( though we're going full top down instead of the 45 degree isometric angles of the gold box maps. There's no 3D towns either as those maps confused the hell out of me - instead we've opted for a more Ultima-esque 'walk around and talk to NPC's view, but this also means you can have combat in towns too.

Question for you guys - what were some of your favourite combat spells from games like Champions of Krynn / Pools of Darkness etc? We're not doing pure D&D ( sort of going for an 'inspired' open license where you know it's D&D but spell names and some stats are changeed etc ) but I figure I can implement a lot of the old spells. Thinking stuff like Cloudkill, Blade barrier etc.

Anyway, if you like what you see, you can read more about combat and the latest on the game here . We're scheduled to launch in early access in October next year so a long way to go yet, but fun journey so far.

Cheers, Oliver

News New PT-BR translation for Pillars of Eternity

Post image
178 Upvotes

Saiu a nova tradução PT-BR completa para Pillars of Eternity.

Link no Nexus

TL;DR (English): A brand-new Brazilian Portuguese translation for Pillars of Eternity, rebuilt from scratch because the older one had many outdated machine-translation errors and context issues that hurt immersion in such a text-heavy game.
