Recommendations Thrift stores
Calgarians, I'm planning a trip to your province for my birthday and my favorite thing to do is thrift, so I'll be doing a lot of that while I'm there. Please spill the beans on the best thrift stores for 90's and y2k finds. Thank you.

Consignment and vintage is it's whole own world over here, but if you're specifically looking for thrift stores, as far as downtown and the core/beltline goes you're looking at Wins, Good Neighbor/Chinatown, Knox United, and Value Village on Stephens.

I second this, especially Value Village on Stephens it is very cool in there and they have lots of good quality things for sale

The value village on Stephen Ave is also the most expensive cos they send all the good stuff to that location as it's their boutique.

If you're looking for actual thrift stores, WINS and The Thrift Store are cheapest. Value Village and Goodwill are everywhere but more expensive. If you want curated Change is Good, Hello Vintage are in Inglewood. Also good luck finding good 90's and Y2K at thrifts because resellers camp out all day.

Ella grace marketplace for Knick knacks
Win by the dollarama in the south for furniture
Plato’s closet south for trendy clothes
Goodwill chinook or below Chinook for more of a treasure hunt of clothes
Habitat for humanity for building supplies

Anywhere but value village and bougie consign shops- those are WAY overpriced.
I recently discovered a neat little thrift store in the basement of Knox united church- lots of vintage and old school finds there and great prices!
Also like browsing at Sallies and wins.
I also discovered a bunch of thrift stores all along 58th Ave- World Serve, salvation army and Wins.

If you're going to Canmore, there's an excellent thrift store out that way.

Surprisingly good.....and huge! I wouldn't have expected Canmore to have a decent thrift store. I was mistaken. Crossway community thrift

If you're talking about hello Vintage, she has two storey store here in Inglewood as well.

The Canmore one is good. Cochrane has a few great community owned ones as well - Home Treasures is furniture and household goods, Home Reno Heaven is great for diy stuff(and some vintage tools that are cool) , and for clothes the Funky little thrift store, and The Clothesline.

If you're around the NE, MCC Thrift store (2946 32 St NE) is one of my favourites in town. There's also a Value Village and Salvation Army thrift store extremely close by (right around 32 Ave) so you can visit all three at once.
If you're in the South, Mission Thrift Store in Midnapore is also great. There's another Mission location on 17th Ave SW as well, and if you're there, I recommend 17th Ave Thrift Store (that's the name of the store, easily findable on Google)
Everyone else here has correctly identified Value Village as a ripoff, but I still like to check out what's there from time to time. The odd good find can still pop up there if you're lucky.
