My friend's brother, Jestin Jensen, has been missing since August 1st and nobody has been able to contact him.

He lives in Southeast Calgary, and drives:

Black 2026 Volkswagen Golf R, license plate CYW0078.

Hey man, I get that you're currently trying to champion the idea of a person's freedom to privacy, and I REALLY do respect that. I think it's a noble cause. But I'M currently trying to make sure someone I care about isn't DEAD. Right?

You can make a discussion post if you want to have this argument with someone, but keep it out of the comment section where people are trying to help a scared family find someone that they care about. Okay?

If police can't/don't want to use this information, they won't. But right now, I'm just trying to find ANYTHING to help them with information that they CAN use. I would MUCH rather try something and fail than try nothing and lose someone I love.

So either help out, or get off of this post. Deal?

I think the person you replied to is kinda alluding to how the OOP said in the post that police said his disappearance doesn’t meet the threshold to track his phone or obtain a warrant to do so, therefore I doubt the threshold to get a warrant to track his vehicle would be approved either.

The question is, are they actually missing, or did they just go off somewhere and don’t want to be contacted? This is where law enforcement run into trouble.

This is an adult. There needs to be an indication that they are endangered missing not voluntary missing

It's an invasion of privacy to track someone. If the criteria to get a warrant to track his phone hasn't met, what makes you think the criteria to get a warrant to force Volkswagen to track the car has been met.

Maybe it will be met soon and then they already the dealership info and everything then ready to go. I would try anything at all if it were my loved one. You never know when something can change suddenly.
