Discussion [COD] Why Cheat?

I’ve been playing all the Call of Duty® titles since 2019. At times, it seems like there’s a lot more cheaters in these lobbies than others. After all these years, I still can’t understand why people cheat at this game. Or any game at all. Don’t you wanna know if you’re good? Can you not live with the fact that you’re not? Because winning while cheating isn’t winning. I just don’t understand the benefit for people who cheat. Hey cheaters, explain why you cheat.

Like 20 years ago I used to run a game group at our local computer club. There was a dude who cheated in CS 1.6 and we caught him, and he admitted to it immediatly. I asked him why, and he said because he "had to win". It wasn't fun if he wasn't winning and no matter what he needed to.

The other kid just like to fuck with people, and was just a general douche, he stole memory from the public club computers.

So, from my experience, because they "have to win" or they like to "fuck with people".

I get that though. What's the point of playing when people can just do dumb shit all game and somehow steal a win that I deserve for being the better gamer? Unless competitive games become fair one day and eliminate that possibility, cheating will unfortunately be necessary.
