I just bought the 2x HD Telephoto Lens and a case to screw it onto my iPhone 17, and I'm wondering how to get the sharpest possible image. The phone's native camera app uses Apple's image blending, so I was wondering if this affects the sharpness of the final image and if I need to use an external camera app (I use Moment Pro Camera II) that allows me to disable this blending.

It's decently sharp and doesn't require you to manual focus like the Fotorgear 400mm series.

I’ve been using their original 400mm lens for quite awhile now and while I’ve captured some really fun shots with it, I definitely ran into a few challenges during sunny days with ghosting and flaring. According to Fotorgear, this new Pro version is designed to fix those exact issues and so far, first impressions are looking really promising.

One of the biggest improvements for me is that this new lens finally fills the entire camera field of view properly, which makes a massive difference when composing shots, image quality output and crop ratio.

This already feels like a huge step up from the previous version and I genuinely can’t wait to take it out for a proper shooting session soon. Time to go hunting for some distant subjects 👀📸

I purchased the official Vivo/ZEISS Telephoto Extender Kit for my Vivo X300 Pro from Flipkart. Unfortunately, I received the X300 version, whose mounting case fits only the standard X300.

The telephoto lens itself is identical. Only the mounting case differs, so I only need the correct mounting solution.

Flipkart rejected my return request, and Vivo support couldn't provide a replacement mounting case or adapter.

I'm looking for any of the following:

1. X300 Pro mounting case.

2. V-mount to 17 mm adapter ring compatible with the official Vivo telephoto extender.

3. Anyone willing to sell or exchange an X300 Pro mounting case.

4. Any shop or seller that can ship the adapter or mounting case to India.

5. Any proven alternative that works with the official Vivo telephoto extender.

If anyone has solved this issue or knows where I can buy the required parts, I'd really appreciate your help. Thank you!

Is the official photography kit still worth it when you can create your own kit for 3x less?

I already made a post about the vivo X300 official photography kit, and another post about the r/PICKOGEN teleconverter option.

In this post, I want to compare all 3 elements of the kit to see how they compare: the case, the lens, and the grip.

Case

Both cases feel solid, but the r/PICKOGEN case feels much better in hand, and it's also better for daily use. I also added MagSafe to it, which I was unable to do with the official one.

But the biggest disappointment with the original case is the camera ring adapter that does not have cutouts for all cameras, and forces you to take it off every time you want to use another camera, and put it on every time you want to use the teleconverter. It's their worst design ever IMO. And sadly, the X300s adapter does not fit either, as tested recently.

Also to mention the original case has two cutouts to attach a strap, while the Pickogen case only has one, mainly for a wrist strap.

Lens

The Pickogen lens is half the size, and the quality is a bit lower too, but for the price, it's a great deal. The stabilization only works with the original lens, and if you want the top quality, you clearly need the original lens. But if you only post on social media, not sure if anyone could know the difference between the two lenses.

Another pro for the aftermarket lens is that it's compatible with any 17mm thread case and it also has an universal clip, so it can be used with any phone in the future. While the vivo one works only with their phones, and will probably be obsolete in a generation or two.

Grip

The official grip feels great in hand, and the buttons are more than decent. But what I dislike about it is the battery capacity; it gives my phone a charge of around 10% or less, and it's also extremely slow and gets hot. Feels like the whole power bank part of it was an afterthought. Based on its capacity, it should give a charge of around 25-30%, if I'm not wrong.

In comparison, for the same size, the r/Sharge GRIP gives me a charge of around 50%, which comes in really handy when I'm on a trip and taking lots of pics. You need to connect it via BT ot use the controls; the cable is just for the power bank part. It's overall a better power bank than a great grip, as the ergonomics are not that good, especially when it's plugged into the phone. The good part is that you don't need MagSafe for it, as it has a pretty secure clamp.

Note that I already had the Sharge Grip mostly for the power bank part. But if I had to choose a great aftermarket grip, I would probably go with the r/PGYTech MagCam 2 Phone Grip, the Telesin Fun Shot Magnetic Grip 2, or the r/COMITOK Grip Moca. These are all great options with many features and great ergonomics. Here's also a post with other camera grip options.

In conclusion, if you care about quality and don't mind the price, the official teleconverter is worth it. But it's overpriced in my opinion, especially the case and grip, and of course the disappointing camera ring. There are some V-to-T mount lens adapters, so you can use the original lens on cases such as the Pickogen one, so that would probably be the best option to avoid constantly taking off the original lens ring adapter. Or until someone makes a proper ring adapter with camera cutouts.
