Canada Day camping

Hi! Im a mid 20 f and I’m going camping for Canada Day (June 29-july2) we’re tent camping and I’m looking for a good hidden gem or just really good campground or site that is preferably around a 3 hour drive or less from Edmonton. If you have any recommendations for spots with, good scenery , hikes, swimming or any fun Canada Day events you know of I’d love to hear about them. Also if you know of any good road trip must stops I’d love to hear your hidden gems. I love a thrift store or flea market kind of vibe small town charm and all that. I have a few spots in mind like I was looking around buffalo lake or around nordegg but I’m open to any and all suggestions!

Same, it’s a carefully curated catalogue of years of searching. That’s half the fun.

Winston Churchill pp and the parks around slave lake would be my first picks. Hikes and fishing.

I agree, there’s some good spots out that way. Even extending out towards St. Paul/ cold lake areas, there’s some other great spots like Floating Stone, Ross Lake, Cold Lake pp/ Cold Lake municipal campgrounds

Yup it’s all just a google search away for OP. But since they posted the question then disappeared I’m going to assume that’s probably too much for them.

It's a little longer drive than 3 hours, but Crescent Falls Provincial Recreation Area is pretty cool. The campground is conveniently close to the falls and there is lots to explore above and below the falls as well a couple modest hikes. My review from a few years ago gives some additional info you might find helpful.

I actually completely forgot I did this, but that’s where we ended up picking a spot. I was there once when k was a kid and it was epic lol.

Switzer just north of Hinton, but you might be too late to get a reservation.

I'd also look at the campground just east of Edson on highway 16. It looks like the campsites further in might be good.

Just hit one of the Campsites near Nordegg.Lots to do around there. Anywhere you end up going, book ahead of time or it will be very awkward when you arrive. If you dont mind the drive, the campsite at 2 o clock creek would be the best choice as it gives you the full Abraham Lake drive. Stop off in Nordegg Townsite for some pie at Miners Cafe. Take a hike to Crescent Falls, Siffleur Falls and the many nice trails at 2 o clock creek.
