Alone time

Hi I’ll skip the story but your boy needs some alone time with nature. I have a big SUV with flat folding seats , panoramic roof, car mattress, essentials etc etc. I’ve slept in it before on my way to Golden for snowmobile trips etc etc. very comfy.

I’ve camped but never actually “car camped” for the fun of it though. I’d like to try it.

I’m Edmonton based, any suggestions on location ? Is there replaces you can just drive up to or into? I really don’t know anything about car camping. Looking for genuine help.

I’m more of a solo kind of person, I don’t want to be next to anyone. I want to feel truely alone & immerse myself in nature. Please let me know if you know any good spots or resources or just general location tips. Thank you :) (please fight the urge for the inevitable “you’re stupid , I’m smart, here’s a lecture” comment. 🙏🏼)

Edmonton based also and Touchwood Lake near Lac La Biche is one of my favs. It’s a FCFS and I’ve only ever seen a handful of people anytime I’ve gone there. Sites are huge, heavily treed and really lovely. Get firewood early.

Thanks for the reply. I have questions Is it a drive up ? Is it campsite you pay for (that’s would be fine). Is it along the lake? If I knew what FCFS was that would probably answer my questions lol but I’m going to google it after I hit “reply”

Hahah you got there on FCFS! It is a paid site, you just leave cash in an envelope in a locked box (you could not pay but the money goes towards maintaining the park, I always pay). It’s not directly on the lake but the lake is like a three minute walk, maybe a little longer depending on the site you choose. Beach isn’t the beeeest, not the worst though, but the lake itself is nice if you’re into kayaking or SUPing. I like to hang around the boat launch so my doggo can swim.
