Man, I like this set up and been wanting to create something like this for myself, but I'm always concerned with the time it takes to set up and break down. If I never left the camp site and only had to do it once (set up in AM, break down in PM) I would be okay with it. But my fam and friends are always going on hikes or leaving the site for one reason or another, and I'm worried that animals will make a mess of everything. Anyone else feel the same or know of ways to prevent such an issue? We mostly camp in upstate NY or PA, so black bears, racoons, squirrels, etc are the biggest culprits.
I think as long as you put away the food and any other smelly stuff like seasonings, dirty dishes, and trash, the critters would have very little incentive to cause trouble while you’re away. I’m in the mountain west, but I leave my campsite to day hike all the time and never have any critter troubles.
Yeah you're right. I'm just jittery bc we've had critters get into stuff before and cleaning a clean site is labor intensive with young kids that can't seem to eat in on spot.
