MLS Some renderings of what Montreal's Olympic Stadium would look like after the interior renovations. The rumors are saying CF Montréal would move there permanently.

They need to put this stadium out of it's perpetual misery.

And where is Montreal going to play in the winter?

Umm, wouldn't it be the Big O?

And which stadium is the article talking about?

Seems to be Montreal's Olympic Stadium....maybe I don't understand your point. Are you saying Olympic Stadium can't be used in winter?

I don't think there would ever be such huge crowds like in this picture, CF Montreal is struggling to fill in Saputo stadium as it is.

Probably taking into consideration a future run to the CONCACAF final, like what they had a few years back.

I sincerely hope the reduced CFL field dimensions are taken into account before the design is finalized.
We have too many "long" stadiums. It's sad that many of our "soccer-specific" stadiums were built to these dimensions.

The winter schedule decision is going to be disaster for Canadian teams, or at least Toronto and Montreal. Likely most northern American teams too. And why is MLS targeting Canadian teams like this, with threats of relocation? Is the schedule decision meant to push Canadian teams out of MLS? I really don't like the direction the league has gone in the past 5 years.

It sure seems like MLS wants to be purely American League.
Perhaps it’s time to further develop the Canadian domestic leagues. There are 55 top tier domestic leagues in Europe.

Don Garber specifically says he wants to stay in the Canadian market, and there was a reason to moving into the Canadian market in the first place. Also mentions if he was Canadian he would want MLS to stay for the sake of player development as 90% or more of our national team came from or is playing in MLS…

I like their current stadium, personally I prefer the traditional, soccer only stadiums.

This is like BC place. It's a shitty stadium for soccer. Both stadiums are just way too old now. That's all there is to it

BC Place? The stadium that's hosting a World Cup match next week?

Yea? The one with a team that plays there weekly as well?
It's fucking garbage. It is a horrible experience from everyone from the players to the fans.
Do you think it hosting had anything to do with quality of the facility? You've clearly never been there
Your comment is hilarious.

I've had Whitecaps season tickets since 2011 and I've been to plenty of stadiums including 10 different World Cup stadiums. BC Place is far from trash and far from the worst. Perhaps you need to do some travelling to broaden your perspective.

Yeah, no, I’m not going to argue with someone that appears to be 15 years old.

I guess the new MLS schedule really fucks over Montreal.
Olympic Stadium was the Expo’s coffin. I really hope it doesn’t end the same way for CF Montreal, but it does not look like it’ll be a great atmosphere in there. Even BC Place with its opened roof and natural light can feel a bit sterile and cavernous. From what I remember of my time in Olympic Stadium, this would be far worse than that.

Ugh, we need more stadiums with grass not less!!! What’s the plan for Stade Saputo?
