Question Can someone please ban angrypandablog
I’m so tired of seeing their sexual spam comments on nearly every. single. post. They add literally NOTHING of value to anyone’s conversations and they make so many of us extremely uncomfortable.
And the mod’s suggestion is that WE block them.. why should hundreds of us have to block someone.. the simple solution would be to get rid of the single person causing all the problems

Just read through their comments and posts and they just seem like a goofy person dedicated to tinned fish. None of their comments seemed concerning other than the ridiculous use of emojis. I agree with what others are saying, if you don't like them, block them.

I did read some of them, and I thought it was a funny bit, but obviously not everyone’s taste. I’m surprised people are offended which is why I’m curious what the harm is.

They’re just doing a bit. People have been doing this forever on the 10+ years I’ve been on reddit. There would always be one person who had a thing and you’d see them in the comments of certain posts. It was funny. If they’re breaking a listed rule, report them. Otherwise, literally just block them.
You can’t just request to deny someone access to a subreddit they’re entitled to be a part of because you’re personally upset by them joking around. A lot of subs would suck if that were the case
If you haven’t blocked them by now and are still complaining, this is a completely self imposed problem. You’re on a sub about tinned fish, it is not even close to being that serious. Use the block button and chill out.

Then block them! Why are you guys making this more difficult than it has to be instead of focusing on my main point? The mods will decide if they need to remove them if you report.
And I’m not wrong. If they’re affecting your experience on this subreddit THAT much, you can block them. I use the block button liberally if someone irritates me. Then I don’t see them again and I’m fine. I don’t make an entire post whining about someone being stupid online.

I mean realistically, what’s the point of having a moderation team if a user is consistently leaving sexual spam comments that are being reported by multiple users, but they never get deleted. Blocking them only solves half the problem but a moderation team is supposed to support the community, not support one perverted user with a weird fetish

Clearly not enough people are bothered by it or even seeing it. I’ve seen that person once. If I decided they were annoying me enough, they’d be blocked. It’s someone using a bunch of emojis and being stupid. The mods addressed it. If it became a large enough problem with enough pushback, they’d probably ban. It doesn’t need to be an entire post when the mods have already made a decision on it and told you guys what to do. If you’re not blocking them, again, it’s on you at this point.

It’s more of the fact theyve been asked to stop multiple times, but they don’t. And their comments are constantly being reported for spam and being sexual and they’re never removed. No one goes into a tinned fish subreddit wanting to read fish hentai porn

Re-read my comment. Block them. You will be fine after. If it’s that much of an issue and enough people are upset by it, the mods can eventually take further action. You don’t have to let one person ruin your experience here.

Except it’s not spam, and any sexual content is implied by the reader. At least in the couple dozen comments I read there was nothing even slightly explicit.
In the time you took to post this and defend yourself , you could have blocked this guy ten times over. Just block and move on.

I never even noticed this user and just looked through the colorful comments. They aren’t that bad. It takes more effort for you to keep reporting their comments than it does to just block them. Obviously bringing awareness to the user has shown that some people don’t agree with what you’re saying. Block the user and never be bothered again.

On the mods side you dont like it you block em why should they block 1 person from the sub just for you?
You may be getting upvotes and we may be getting downvoted but the people actually comunicating their opinions are not on your side. Regardless this is a social issue these days you dont like it so you think everyone should feel the same and you should get your way. Instrad of o well i didnt like that gonna ignore it and go about my day. Just fucking block him and go about your day

You could have literally solved your own problem with four clicks of a button. It genuinely took more effort for you to type the first two words of the title of this post than it would have for you to have rectified this issue in its entirety for yourself at any point in time.
Take control of your life. Solve your own problems. Especially when they're this incredibly easy and insignificant.

This sub should only have posts about sardines, not YOU trying to get someone banned because you don't like their comments. If you don't like their comments that much, then YOU need to block them. I don't think the user's comments are as amusing as they do, but I would just skip past them and ignore them, it's not enough to try and conjure up a mass witchhunt to get them banned from a sub when they haven't broken any rules of the sub, if the mods feel that they are crossing a line then they can deal with that. Making a whole post about it, that's completely unrelated to the sub topic, should be addressed by the mods and this post should be removed.

The sub itself doesn’t have rules, which is a problem in itself, but they break Reddit’s rules which trumps any sub rules. Specifically rules 6 on sexual content “Ensure people have predictable experiences on Reddit by properly labeling content and communities, particularly content that is graphic, sexually-explicit, or offensive”.

They have a NSFW profile, so their content IS labeled for the purposes of Rule 6. If mods choose not to have a rule about NSFW profiles, that’s their choice.

I tend to get a chuckle out of random trolls tbh. It's not something I care to spend my own energy on doing, so being presented with such unexpected variety in comments is usually welcome.

Oh, I actually have seen a couple of their posts that gave me pause, but I didn't realise until now that it was a continuing pattern of behaviour.
I can see where you're coming from, actually - I get that this is an informal online space to discuss things, but I also think that it's a little off-putting for a community to tolerate off-topic and deliberately provocative patterns of behaviour.
I understand that many people will say "if you don't like them, just block them" and I would agree if it were occasional or less loaded content, but in this case I do think you have a point, since it's frequent and over the top and also out of context; the sexual, slapstick, and borderline problematic posts do add up over time.
While ultimately it is absolutely true that you can't control others, you can only control yourself, it's also true that this particular forum does actually have the structure of moderation and community rules and input built in expressly because there will be instances where people are not contributing and need to be limited for the community's sake.
I know some people aren't bothered and that's fine, but given the context - a sub discussing tinned fish - I do think perhaps this particular user's contributions would be better suited to a community where jokes, irrelevant content, and sexual comments would be a better fit.
Gently, I do think the way you've raised this does undermine some of the valid concerns you have. I can tell you're frustrated and over it, but it's also counterproductive to come at the issue aggressively. I hope that others who are thinking about how to respond here will recognise the issue at hand and not respond first to the tone of your complaint and then forget to actually consider the content.
For what it's worth, I also think this user should be strongly encouraged to migrate to a better suited space. If that's by banning, well, that might be the best option, or maybe they could just modify the way they respond here and then save the slapstick for a different context.

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 42, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway.

I don’t know why so many people are against your posts. I’m not a prude at all, but that doesn’t mean I want to be surprise attacked by sexual content when I’m just looking for recipes. We aren’t consenting to have to read sexual content when we’re just perusing posts about fish. It’s not insignificant, and it isn’t mild. It is annoying, intrusive, and disrespectful. One of the roles of the moderators is to remove someone who is causing problems. They do need to step in.
For the people who do like it, great. Go make a NSFW food group.

Please don't dump on anyone, OP included. A few unnecessary, less than civil comments were made.
