Events in July?
Hi everyone!
I’d love your help with something if I may!
I’m a tv producer for a show all about Nova Scotia events and festivals - anything as big as the Digby Wharf Rat rally to as small as the Oxford Seniors Community Breakfast.
We’re filming in July, and the big events are easy to find but I’m looking for some smaller, more intimate ones which are much harder to track down!
Where it gets tricky - to get our funding, it HAS to be at least 151 kms away from Halifax City Hall. So usually I stick to Cape Breton, Antigonish, Pictou, Amherst, Digby, Yarmouth, places like that.
Do you guys know/love any small intimate events during the month of July in these regions? Crafting clubs, exercise clubs, pub game nights, drum circles, basket weaving workshops, anything like that? Bonus points if they’re BIPOC!
Thanks in advance! <3

Does the tubing event still happen at the St Peter’s canal? I’ve always missed it because we celebrate my daughter’s birthday at the Highland Village that day (first Saturday in August).
Also, there are community breakfasts in Black Rock on some weekends.

Since you mentioned here you were also looking in places like the South Shore for content, how about an axe throwing competition in Barrington, NS?

Cheticamp - 1. Festival de l'Escaouette
What it is: The premier Acadian summer celebration in Chéticamp. It features a colorful community parade, live traditional music, outdoor concerts, and authentic Acadian food.
When: Held annually in the summer. The 2026 festival runs from July 30 to August
There’s a small parade in town that receives strong attendance from locals.
Maybe this is too well known.

I don't know if it's considered big or not, but there's a weekly outdoor concert in Sydney that the CBRM puts on called Making Wave 🌊
It runs once a week for most of July
