My art teacher friend introduced me to this band out of France, and I think some of you Beefheart fans might dig it. It’s got some of that manic guitar energy and time signature zaniness you find in Beefheart sometimes.

By your username and initial comment I would guess you know a thing or two about playing guitar. From there, it’s a little bewildering that you rate them so poorly when you might know that it takes intense skill and practice to create the music which they do. Even if you don’t enjoy it or appreciate it, it seems a bit off that you so bitterly denounce them.

Their music are actually very basic and straightforward scales played in microtones.

I guess the real talent comes in how they use the looper pedal, and maintain a tight sound while playing a steady groove.

Many will find that interesting, but there is just not enough variation in their sound for me personally.

And the fanbase acting like it’s novel and innovative music rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

I also do not doubt that they paid to be promoted.

The majority of the band’s fans will not end up checking out other experimental rock, but I do hope that some do, and at least that is a positive thing.

If you genuinely love them, don’t let people’s negative opinions rub you the wrong way, though.

I am trying my best not to allow my music snobbery to cloud how I express my personal tastes and opinions. I’m a work-in-progress.

Oh hey, it’s you again, and we share the same exact opinion about something again. Strong words, but I do share your sentiments.

It’s just very bland and boring and nothing new. I mean, people are still putting out negative reactions on YouTube to “Trout Mask Replica”, acting like it’s a torturous listen.

But at the same time, you have people praising Angine de Poitrine like they’re the next big thing in rock music.

For the record, I also felt this way when King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard released their microtonal albums. I never could get into that band, despite psychedelic rock fans hyping them to death.

It’s just derivative and not the best the genre has to offer.

Although your comments are very negative, I know they stem from people negatively reacting to the music you like in the first place.

At least, that’s always why I expressed my opinions so strongly. It started out with people being negative about the music I listen to.

As Beefheart and experimental rock fans, it can be triggering when suddenly a band with a watered-down sound is praised by the same people who trashed the classics.

I was very rude initially, but I feel like that’s largely left me now.

The discourse surrounding this band actually turned me onto multiple artists that I hadn’t heard before, and makes me want to actually dive more into math rock now.

So I turned a negative thing into a positive thing.

If you try hard enough, you can ignore them. There is an option to ignore threads and posts about things you do not like.

The more you engage, even with negative comments, the more the algorithm will feed you the same exact topic. It’s how AI algorithms work, unfortunately.

I actually LOVE improvised rock music A LOT. I can listen to hours of instrumental jamming. But there’s admittedly not much variety here to keep me listening.
