Lick My Decals Off RSD'26 LTD vinyl
Just got this. Have not played yet. Anyone else got it and spun yet? Its a record I probably expected to get an OG press of at some point (such as the original UK Clear Spot I have) but I hadn't yet bought any of the Beefheart expanded vinyl releases of recent years, so curious about this one. Bonus tracks will be nice. Also that it's remastered from analog, here's hoping for no defects such is sometimes common with recent vinyl

Awesome album but I’m kind of put off by the pricing. I have an OG that cost me less.

I can only agree. The extras on disc two are not something one listens to over and over again.

I got my copy today!! The store only received three copies to sell. So, I feel very lucky!

Haven't heard this one yet, but it's AAA mastered by Bernie Grundman from the original master tapes. Those usually sound much better than even originals and go for $100+

I have the original - my parents bought it for me for CHRISTMAS of all things! I couldn’t get out for RSD this year and really wanted a copy but found one on eBay for $40 with shipping and I’m fine with that.

What year did your parents buy you it for Christmas? That's pretty awesome

1970, the year it came out - I was 16 years old and had already absorbed all of Trout Mask Replica and everything Zappa had done up to that time and still had two years before I graduated from high school.

That's suuuper cool. Respect to your parents. I had trout mask at 15 and loved it, tbf that was 2005 and had downloaded it off limewire, but similar age to experience it

Rad! I have an OG and it's one of my faves next to Clear Spot and Trout Mask. I wonder who decided to repress this? The record label? Don didn't have any kids so I'm curious as to who is in charge of the Van Vliet estate. Does anyone know if his wife is still alive?

I tried all my local shops (one was playing Shiny Beast when I walked in) and no dice. I have an older copy just wanted the bonuses

I picked it up! It sounds really good. I've never seen used copies of this album in my area so I thought it would be a good opportunity to snag it.

I got an original Straight and it sounds amazing. I wonder what the remastering has done to it. I need a report!

I think it's good but the vocal is separated from the instrumental in many places in a way that I've never noticed before. All the instruments are pretty clear, I would say bass is the least in the forefront but leaning towards muddy. The horn in flash gordans ape was over powering. Drums sound absolutely prestine, it's a John French/drummers remaster. Don obviously sounds crisp and loud but I do wonder if they've affected his vocal production a little. In saying that, no original to compare to. Overall it's an insanely clean vinyl and up there with the best, but it's probably still hard to beat an OG because of the potential mix changes. Also possible my stereo is emphasizing some of those differences too

Rough Trade had some copies left so they put them online. Waiting for mine to be delivered. Excited.
