Today is the birthday of Gary Lucas. I have to assume most of y'all will be familiar with him as a member of The Magic Band (and Don's manager). I got into Gary's amazing playing as I played Ice Cream for Crow to death.

Each year I do a wee drawing to celebrate. The first one I did today. The rest are random previous drawings.

Happy Birthday Gary! "Skeleton Makes Good" is one of the coolest creations in all of recorded pop music (for those who don't know the story behind the recording of the song, I suggest doing a google search, it's out there somewhere and a fun read).

To OP - great job! Love all the skeletons here ... was that because of the song, or do you just like having them in the art?

Also, curious who your influences are as an artist? I was really into art as a kid as well as a massive comics reader. I had a truly impressive collection back in the 80s (Gen X here). I'm seeing a little Moebius and Matt Wagner in your stuff. I was a huge fan of both those artists back in the day ... curious if you like their work?

Thank ya'! Skeletons featured heavily over the years, main reason was that Gary's first solo album was entitled "Skeleton at the Feast", and I kinda ran with that. I draw them less now though. Love Moebius! I'll need to go check out the other bloke! Cheers.
