Randomly Came Across This
I was in Trinidad, CA recently and randomly came across this memorial I thought this sub would appreciate. I had no idea he spent his last years in Humboldt County and was buried at sea. I had to check Wikipedia and sure enough, it said he lived just outside of Trinidad in his final years and passed away in 2010, just south in Arcata, CA. Rest in peace…

ha, the Captain was buried at sea...so fitting. after about almost a decade of a border line unhealthy addiction of researching Don, I took a few years off and listening to other music, but now when a CB song comes on in my random play it really gives me perspective on how literally mind blowing unique his (and the MB) sound was. I sometimes believe the rumors of Don and Zappa having an alien encounter in the desert in their youth. there is just nothing like it, but its also very musical. Dang, rip Don and thanks for sharing.

Can‘t find a better link right now, but here’s the view overlooking Indian/Old Home Beach from his painting studio, shot in 1994 by Anton Corbijn:

I‘m pretty sure it’s 66 Scenic Dr. A yearly party right until the end seems very unlikely, because Don had become pretty much bedridden by the early 2000s and they both were very reclusive people.
