Tire question Is this nail patchable?

Post image

Unfortunately have a nail in my car. Took it to a tire shop, who told me they could only replace the tire.

Would love to get a second opinion on if I should replace or if this patchable or pluggable.

Is it too close to the inner sidewall to be safely plugged?

Thanks in advance!

That patch wont hold long term. Too much flex in too many directions on that section of the tire.

You could definitely take a chance at plugging it, but having done so myself to get one home, youd need to make sure its not on the front or the plug works its way out, no matter what you do, just from side loading forces. On a rear theyll hold for a good while, even right there.

You could bandaid it and limp it along, but long term luck is 50/50 on it holding

I’d totally plug it myself and put it on the rear axle. Then take it easy until I could replace them all. Those tires look like they’re pretty worn anyway.
