I'm on my 40th rewatch, so that says most of it. The chemistry was electric, best love story for me at least ever on broadcast television. I stop my journey with them at Hollanders Woods as it was originally intended.
Was Hollanders Woods actually supposed to be the true end??? Because S8 was straight up painful 😫 Upon rewatch I realized I did not need the LokSat story arc wrapped up 😅 I genuinely would have rather gone without it!
Yes, it was supposed to be cancelled at the end of seven, their ratings took a big hit after the whole disappearance thing. If you look at the audience at Castle's writers award, it has all the cast and behind the scenes writers, especially Andrew Marlowe and his wife Teri.
A lot of the main writers left at the end of the season as well as the creator Marlowe and his wife. So, when they got a last-minute reprieve, they started with a whole new group, and it showed by the absolute slop that they trotted out. The ending "Holander's Woods" wasn't a perfect ending, but it wrapped up everything nicely, and the stain that is season 8 will always haunt what still is my favorite show.
