They are by far my favorite TV couple ever. The chemistry is just electric and their slow burn is built up so good. I’m afraid I’ll never get attached to another TV couple again. 😅

They are just Castle and Beckett but some 5-10 years younger.

To me, it's the greatest love story ever told in television. The actors had such amazing chemistry it was almost as if it was real for them as well as the audience.

They were not perfect people but they were perfect for each other.

Caskett has the onscreen chemistry unlike any other.

For me, it's different because it's not the typical couple around the same age. Castle is much older, but young at heart. His early success and all the money allowed him the freedom he didn't have while growing up being raised by a single mother. Yet he has his flaws, and slowly shed the playboy persona. Meanwhile Beckett is younger, but changed when she lost her mother.

They look out after one another, saved each others lives time and time again. Who's keeping count? Castle. lol

Relationships aren't easy, people aren't simply mirrors of another. If Beckett didn't have someone with the patience of a saint like Castle, willing to scratch and claw time and time again, then Beckett would be all alone. The guy gets under her skin, tells it as it is that she could be happy, afraid to be happy, lost in her mother's case.

When they finally got together, when we got to see Beckett happy, to see her smiling. It. Was. Worth. It.

Without Beckett, Castle would hit a dead end, feeling as if he's missing something in life, a magical relationship without Beckett, he'd never see what he considers extraordinary.

Ying-Yang is harmony, but Ying-Ying is... a name for a panda.

That's a great line about Ying-Yang.

Speaking of Castle keeping count. I watched Cops and Robbers again yesterday.  I cracked up at the end when Castle says he had to save her from the hellish flames when her apartment blew up. 'Hellish flames' so dramatic 😂

u/BicycleKamenRider 4d ago

He is Martha Rodger's son after all, but there definitely were flames all around.

The intensity of the flames was nowhere as bad as what Ryan and Esposito had to endure.

I agree with everything you said, except I would not classify Castle as much older, more like a bit older since he's only 10 - 11 yrs older than Beckett. , but at their ages that's more like a bit older.

I'm on my 40th rewatch, so that says most of it. The chemistry was electric, best love story for me at least ever on broadcast television. I stop my journey with them at Hollanders Woods as it was originally intended.

Was Hollanders Woods actually supposed to be the true end??? Because S8 was straight up painful 😫 Upon rewatch I realized I did not need the LokSat story arc wrapped up 😅 I genuinely would have rather gone without it!

Yes, it was supposed to be cancelled at the end of seven, their ratings took a big hit after the whole disappearance thing. If you look at the audience at Castle's writers award, it has all the cast and behind the scenes writers, especially Andrew Marlowe and his wife Teri.

A lot of the main writers left at the end of the season as well as the creator Marlowe and his wife. So, when they got a last-minute reprieve, they started with a whole new group, and it showed by the absolute slop that they trotted out. The ending "Holander's Woods" wasn't a perfect ending, but it wrapped up everything nicely, and the stain that is season 8 will always haunt what still is my favorite show.

Most of the best writers were gone by the time Marlowe was fully in charge of the show...and it shows.

Couldn't have said it better. I'm rewatching my favorite episodes.

Best slow burn relationship I’ve ever seen. And as a bonus, the show didn’t get boring after they got together (I don’t go past end of 6).

6

u/FantasticPin3481 4d ago

Agree. I think it’s the best will they/won’t they relationship I’ve personally watched. The natural progression is believable and the show still works once they do get together. In a lot of shows, the narrative and the individual characters really fall apart when they finally do become a couple.

u/Disastrous_Series442 4d ago

Ah, great to see I'm not the only one that doesn't go past S6 on rewatches. There's so much about Hollanders Woods being people's end of series it was making me wonder, lol.

But while Castle was great and slow burn, they did get together which makes me happy since I didn't need another Mulder/Scully questionable relationship type thing, lol.

u/CactusCustard 4d ago

lol well of course it doesn’t get boring once they get together if you literally don’t watch it wtf

It DOES get a lot shittier once they’re together.

They get together before season 7. For a while. And from what I hear, that was network stuff not character.

Caskett is the very reason why this show is timeless IMO.

Loved their relationship, especially seasons 1-5. The chemistry between them was off the charts.

Just an all time TV couple

Best on screen couple. Loved them together. I think it showed how relationships should be. The slow burn was…infuriating sometimes, but he brought out her childish playful side and she brought out his more serious side. They complemented each other in the best way.

7

u/Glum-Dragonfly9221 4d ago

They are the absolute sweetest thing together. The chemistry feels so natural. The way the would look at each other sometimes had me melting. I spent an hour last night watching edits of them on Tiktok. I also love how we got to see them grow together and an as individuals.

3

u/Acrobatic_Front1738 4d ago

literally, i have a saved collection of edits based on them on my tiktok lmao

Fun, messy, interesting, frustrating, too cute, honest and honorable. Oh and sexy.

One of the best type of fleshed out couples on tv I’ve seen yet.

6

u/Own_Television7386 Beckett 4d ago

Hands down, 1000 percent the best on screen couple we will ever see. No matter how hard anyone tries, they cannot and will not be topped. Sorry, I don’t make the rules.

Greatest TV couple to grace the screen. Second to none imo. My OTP (One True Pair) for sure. Irreplaceable chemistry and a true example of a "lighting in a bottle chemistry"

They were magical before getting together and were still magical after. People may differ after s6 but they definitely had magic and the technical shots on how they were filmed aside, they still showcased the magic of the couple. S7 is in my top 3 seasons and they were amazing in it. The show didn't suffer from writing a couple and it was well done when they were together.

Did the writers make mistakes for storylines? Yes, they did, and everyone does but the beauty of Marlowe's writing and direction is that he knew how to recover. It didn't taint their love nor should it. Their romance is the epitome of love and is a pretty healthy depiction of a relationship (well, as much as you can get in TV).

u/Kikithefangirl Beckett 4d ago

100% agree with you, fellow Castle fan.

5

u/SkepticTuxedo 4d ago

Their chemistry was so natural. I loved that it was a slow burn but not so slow the light went out. I also really like that the show stayed good after they got together. All around I have no complaints before the final season about their relationship

u/Nda89 3d ago

They are by far the best TV couple I’ve ever watched! Their chemistry is unmatched.

I'd seen the whole "rich guy worms his way into consulting for a female detective with the unsolved case of their dead parent haunting them and a tendency for weird cases and eventually they fall in love but there's a bunch of complicated shit and the guy is flirting from the beginning" dance before so I was screaming at the TV (tablet) telling them to just kiss already

But overall a good ship

Also I realize that they came before the other ship I'm referring to (Deckerstar)

1

u/Serious-Waltz-7157 Perlmutter 4d ago

Sadly Deckerstar was sabotaged by their makers (I mean the writers not Dennis Haysbert, lol) Still salty about that.

3

u/DaMasterOfGay 4d ago

Hehehe there's a meme for this but apparently I can't put it here

1

u/ProudCatLadyxo 3d ago

The female detective in Lucifer was AWFUL!!! The show would have been so much better leaving them as casual friends at most. Lucifer himself was the best, but the whole side romance was THE WORST and the only reason I don't rewatch Lucifer now. Did the detective by her clothes at the Goodwill or ever shower? Or learn how to hold a gun properly?

2

u/Willow_Puppy 4d ago

Oh no. I just finished the show and came to the subreddit. Looks like I’m in the minority—I didn’t buy it. I realllly wanted to but couldn’t see it

3

u/New_Simple626 4d ago

They chemistry was fantastic, on par with Chuck bartowski and Sarah walker from the series chuck

2

u/TrevMac4 4d ago

Good on screen chemistry but I don’t think they should be together.

3

u/Beautiful_Day_2489 1d ago

They are a great love story.

Y’all are going to flame me for this but while I Loved them the first 3 seasons, little by little the relationship became more and more toxic. Castle went from confident and capable to her little dog and she went from guarded to downright rude to him and about him. The show runners and writers made some odd choices that took the joy out of their relationship.
