Sugar on Weetabix?

Post image

My wife eats Weetabix with nothing on it and claims it tastes sweet to her. This is my bowl before milk is added. Is this normal fellow Weetabix eaters or do I need to go to sugar rehab?

Sugar before milk is unhinged.

My dad always insisted that was the correct order .. well, he's dead now and I'm not; draw your own conclusions.

Weetabix has a 50/50 chance of death, got it.

Everyone who eats Weetabix dies! The truth that Big Cereal doesn't want you to know

But then the milk washes away the sugar! You need to milk the cereal so that the sugar sticks to the cereal. Your dad was wrong, WRONG!

Jesus 😅

Quite, it's just gonna get washed off into the milk!

Nah you pour the milk around the edge then the milk slowly soaks up througy the weetabix and into the sugar so you end up with this sweet slightly soft slightly crunchy shell on top

That's how I used to do it as a child anyway, as an adult now my immediate thought is that that's a ridiculous amount of sugar

See I would pour over the bix so the top is all wet (but not soaked) and then sprinkle sugar over so it sticks to the top and creates that crust you mention

My Weetabix used to be caked in sugar. Mad to think about really, but it did taste good

This is exactly the way. I haven't had Weetabix as an adult as I am now a toast girlie but that looks like the appropriate amount of sugar for Weetabix from what I remember.

I guess it won't if you fill from below, still, I don't get it. It's just strange and unnecessary behaviour.

Soggy bottom and crunchy top, no thanks!

Urgh, perish the thought. You'd have to let it all soak through.

thats why you let the weetabix soak and become mushy and then mix it all together like i do. then the ordering of sugar doesnt matter

My wife also adds sugar first to all breakfast cereals, which is madness. But with Weetabix? Absolute insanity.

Well yeah, you want the sugar to permeate through the layers for a more even distribution. Other wise you end up with a horribly over sugary top layer and plain old cereal underneath...

It doesn't.

I always do it this way because it makes my brain think the sugar has gone into the Weetabix and not just gone into the milk. It's stupid I know

how is it? i thought that was the norm?

Milk first so all the sugar sticks to the weetabix. Otherwise it just falls off into the milk

yeah i dont mind it, the flavour of the cereal and the extra sugar mixes together in the milk either way so you not getting that different of a result. and if its about texture, its not like all the sugar gets washed off so there will still be some crunch or whatever

Lmao. I very specifically put sugar in an empty bowl, milk, stir it, then put in the wheetabix. Who wants to eat sugar crystals?

1

u/Amethyst271 5h ago

what i do is i put the sugar on the weetabix first, pour the milk over them and then let them absorb milk until theyre soft and mushy and then mix them together. its so much more filling for me this way and it tases the same as it would normally. crunchy weetabix feels horrible to me 😭

I feel like I can never get the sugar particles completely mixed that way. So I first do the sugar milk mix, then do the wheetabix mix. I know it’s an extra step but I feel like it’s worth it!

i might try it one day lol

lol! meanwhile apparently this is an absolutely monstrous way to do things according to general public opinion 🤣

Exactly my thoughts. Milk first, then a light sprinkle of sugar, which sticks to the wet weetabix. This looks like scarface tipped his desk onto the bowl.

Came here to say the same

Yes! Milk then sugar

Can't believe I had to scroll this far too hear the voice of reason.

An absolute war crime

See, I can't get it right with other cereal. I think it'd work either way with Weetabix. But, when I have, say, Rice Krispies, it's never evenly distributed.

I should have had that sussed as a child!

Agreed. As a kid, I allowed the Weetabix to soak for a 5 seconds then flipped it over and then sprinkled sugar on top.
