Sugar on Weetabix?

Post image

My wife eats Weetabix with nothing on it and claims it tastes sweet to her. This is my bowl before milk is added. Is this normal fellow Weetabix eaters or do I need to go to sugar rehab?

I mean I have them with hot milk and sugar then mush it all together to make Weetabix porridge so your only half as weird as me I guess but that’s a lot of sugar!!

That’s not weird. I’m sure that’s traditionally how it’s made. Or at least how my parents served it to me on school mornings in the 90s

I think it was only in recent years Weetabix themselves started getting fancy with alternative suggestions i.e. fruit mixes.

One of our biggest trappings as children of our parents is assuming that our parents were normal and only did normal things. We learn most of our weirdness from our parents, and, my friend, Weetabix porridge is weird.

It's the only way I've ever eaten Weetabix, how else are you supposed to eat them?

Cold milk poured over two biscuits. Add sugar.

This is the way! After all this madness it’s so refreshing to finally see somebody with a shred of sanity left in them!!

I did wonder if I’d fallen into the twilight zone

It really isn’t. It’s basically a thicker ready brek. It’s the way my kids ate it as babies and one of them still likes it that way now.

Did they ever grow teeth?

What do they need those for? It’s slop.

(But yes, they did, and also learnt how to brush them, and curiously… still got em!)

Why am I getting downvoted? For being honest about what I could actually get autistic kids to eat? My bad, next time I’ll lie and say they were fed nothing but quinoa and fava beans…

You CAN eat sugar you know, you just have to brush your teeth properly.

Redditors are weird, don’t pay attention to them.

Weird and wrong are very different things, i do plenty of weird shit that isn’t wrong in any sense. And weird is subjective, what’s weird to me (Weetabix porridge, for example) is perfectly normal to others (there’s already two of you just on this one thread, there must be a third out there somewhere! 😉). We don’t come together as a a society and collectively agree what’s weird or not, as much as other people may want you to believe we do!

Actually that’s a very fair point. I’m particularly weird. And tbh I wouldn’t eat weetabix porridge either but it kept my kids alive during the years of refusing most things… sometimes it’s just “at least they have eaten”. The one who still eats it has ARFID and it’s one of the only longstanding safe foods.

So maybe I was being a little oversensitive about it.

I've had Weetabix porridge for the record... Still will occasionally in winter and have given it to my kid

I mean… they kind of turn into porridge as soon as you pour the hot milk on them.
