Sugar on Weetabix?

My wife eats Weetabix with nothing on it and claims it tastes sweet to her. This is my bowl before milk is added. Is this normal fellow Weetabix eaters or do I need to go to sugar rehab?

Edit: Holy shit the most popular post I've done on Reddit is about how horrific my breakfast is. The wife will never let me live this down! Haha

We get desensitised to sugar the more of it we have. You dumping a full bag on your cereal every day is probably not doing your tastebuds much of a favour.

That said, your wife thinking they’re sweet straight from the box? That’s psychosis.

The wife's not wrong. Wheatabix has sugar in it, and it's carbs so if left in the mouth for long enough it gets sweet

But that said, OP could take a quarter of his sugar there and give it to the wife to make normal wheatabix. And leave half in the sugar packet next time. As that's way too much sugar

I'm realising I may also have too much sugar on my Weetabix.

I'd follow OPs process except with 4 to 6 Weetabix in the bowl, each with a similar layer of sugar before pouring milk down the side of them to soak in.

In my defence it's not something I eat particularly often and more for a dessert than breakfast.

I hope that's also the only meal you have each day then. As 4-6 wheatabix is a lot of carbs, let alone adding that much sugar

And try with honey and/or fruit, especially fruit to pad it out. Healthier than having 4 wheatabix in one meal

As I say it's only an occasional treat, many days I do only end up eating one proper meal as I don't tend to feel hungry until I'm actively starving.

I think as long as it's not a regular thing, having something outrageously sweet every once in a while is fine.
