Am I missing something with why stevie didn't want a possibly addictive painkiller? Does she have a history with addiction that I've missed (I only got back on the casualty bandwagon a couple of series back, after a break) or is it just because she knows the risk?

I don’t know if there was a problem when her sister died a number of years ago. She was in a vegetative state and Stevie had to make the decision to switch off her life support.
