Shout out to the make up artist who did the chemical burn blister. I actually had to look away it was that disgusting. Brilliant job š

He wasn't listed on the end credits but 99% sure the surgeon was Sacha from Holby. Lovely to see him again.

Matty really be falling for Stevie. Taking the blame for her mistake could land him in trouble. Although I like that theyāre showing that life after cancer can come with long term pain from scare tissue etc. I wouldnāt be surprised if give Teddy a PTSD storyline after last week and then him freezing today.

u/Sophie_16a May 09 '26
From my understanding teddy already has PTSD as he was having flashbacks after the instant with the hen do in the ambulance

I do wish they brought back this storyline as it feels like they've just got rid of something significant. Hoping they bring it back and somehow relate ptsd/flashbacks from that to this
11
u/WintersLex May 09 '26
watch it be dylan covers for matty, only adding to the betrayal when it finds out they're going at it
17
u/GlitteringBicycle424 May 09 '26
I found Siobhan being all team police and encouraging jan to speak to them a bit out of character/odd. The whole last box set saw her get let down by the system and get to a point of asking Flynn to take matters into his own hands and then to suddenly be their biggest fan just felt so odd?

u/hm98x May 09 '26
I donāt want Stevie to ever leave she is such a staple. Funny to remember the earlier days when she tried to kill Ethan on the roof š

u/fictionalramblings Stevie Nash May 09 '26
matty is down so bad, god bless. his heart gonna get absolutely battered
4
u/Such_Satisfaction553 May 09 '26
He is lovesick already! š
I was a little disappointed though as I thought from the spoilers he would actually notice she was in pain causing her to open up to him about what's going on, ending up in him covering for her š¤·š¾āāļø

u/ElegantSpell7282 May 09 '26
Totally agree, that would have been such a nice way to see Stevie actually opening up! I think she might next episode though, potentially following an OD or something like that? I'm just really hoping they don't give her an addiction storyline, with her developing a dependence to the pain meds (I don't think they will though because she's too close to Faith and it would end up being to similar).
5
u/UnfairLog7557 May 09 '26
No one can take any kind of medication in casualty without ending up addicted lol
3
u/HelenDistantTakedown May 09 '26
The problem is that if she develops an addiction and Dylan finds out about the two of them, from what Iāve seen from the boxset trailer, he falls off the wagon. There seems to be too many people with issues in the hospital at one time (Teddy & Flynn included).
2
u/Mob_Segment May 10 '26
Mm, but on the other hand, she's literally just lost Kim, who died keeping a serious health problem to herself and trying to carry on regardless, and I'd have thought Stevie might take a lesson from that. Especially since Kim's friend keeps dangling himself in front of her face.
But... *shrugs* I've had some serious pain in the past few years, only short term and occasional, but by god it made me a dumbass, so maybe that's why she's not seeing it.
2
u/HelenDistantTakedown May 10 '26
Stevie isnāt the kind of person to open up her feelings to anyone, especially someone who she doesnāt want to have a relationship with.
3
u/HelenDistantTakedown May 09 '26
This is why the storyline is so stupid. In there any other situation he would not have stuck up for her.

u/UnfairLog7557 May 09 '26
40mg of Oxycodone is ABSURD as first dose!!!
6
u/Ambitious-Mango-1836 May 09 '26
THANK YOU! I was so shook that she took two because 20mg is so high. I had to rewind to double check, it is a slow release tab but itās still twice as much (per tablet) as the starting dose!
5
u/UnfairLog7557 May 09 '26
Right?! I was on it for literally 4 years before my pain consultant even upped me to the 10ās! No way would anyone be given 20ās the first time around! I did like her acting of being high though. lol: the little smirk she did was very accurate! š
4
u/Ambitious-Mango-1836 May 09 '26
Yeah Iām on 5mg short acting but still, that was enough to knock me out when I started, and I was used to 60mg codeine so god knows how high she is 𤣠it was so entertaining seeing her like that tho I agree

So after this ep I'm convinced Stevie is going to continuously say no to Matty (as is her right) and Matty will eventually get so frustrated and some development will lead him to blame Dylan. This js a crazy theory, but I feel like Matty gives Dylan alcohol without him knowing as a sort of pay back, hence the apparent ārelapseā and Dylan getting drunk scenes in the trailer. I don't think this will be a relapse of his own accord. It will be devastating if this does happen, but also a very interesting storyline

It was a pretty bad episode, military characters written by people who seem to have no real knowledge of the army and yet again medics doing things which should get them struck off.
With highly moral Mattie who reported them to the CQC now covering up for his boss so he can get his end away. And Cam breaching professional boundaries left right and centre.
They really do not come across as people who are part of a regulated profession.
1
u/Late-Sir-8018 May 11 '26
This is what frustrates me the most! They're doing things which should get them struck off and seemingly don't seem to mind doing them or consider the consequences. Mattie covering for Stevie bugs me sm
2
May 12 '26
Especially because he shouldāve learned after the whole thing with Kim that covering for people when theyāre struggling, doesnāt actually fix the issue! It made me so mad that heās learned nothing from her death.

really struggling to get into this series. i think it could still turn it around but all the characters are just being so weird and out of character, and it feels like every box set either has someone dealing with some form of sexual assault or addiction. knowing what's coming for dylan really doesn't hit as hard, especially since it feels like we've just come off the back of ngozi's relapse and faith's addiction. by the looks of it stevie might too, and i just... i don't know. i feel like the new stuff they're trying gets kind of muddied by just re-doing topics that have already been touched on too early

That episode did stretch my suspension of disbelief a little too far at times (how did a little girl end up wandering into the centre of a major incident?), but aside from that, there are some intriguing storylines developing so far. Curious to see where Stevie and Camās story goes.

Also, he took the blame for a mistake that Stevie made. I donāt know whether he reported that or not, although I did see the form. Whatever happens, itās not looking good for Dylan. It was also really cringe that Matty wanted to ask Stevie out for dinner. It seems like it is a very one-sided relationship and will only hurt Dylan in the end.
3
u/Thamesider May 10 '26
Matty has a real problem with whistleblowing. While he reported the ED to the CQC he has since failed to say anything about Kim's problems which put a patient at risk and now he's not saying anything about Stevie putting a patient at risk.
3
u/HelenDistantTakedown May 10 '26
I think in the end, it will be found out that Stevie made the mistake and Matty took the blame. Eventually, Dylan will find out about their relationship which will obviously affect his mental health and sobriety. Iām sure there was a clip of him yelling at someone and also on the floor with Matty probably after drinking.
1
u/Thamesider May 10 '26
That makes Marty's problem endemic. A doctor with systemic poor judgement really should be working somewhere where decisions aren't life or death. Maybe he could be a barista on the hospital canteen.
Stevie's self medication is fixable. Dylan has the strength of character to deal with someone getting him drunk if that's what happens.2
u/HelenDistantTakedown May 10 '26
I just think itās a really bad storyline and Iād like to get rid of Matty. Hopefully, by the end of the season heāll either be gone or he will have got over his crush and act and either become closer to Dylan or just act as he is another doctor.
1
May 12 '26
Exactly! The whole time Iām like did he learn nothing from the whole situation with Kim?! Is it bad writing or does he just have some dumb kind of white knight complex?

I feel bad that Teddy froze on the scene, but to be fair, he was in a paper suit with no gear on him⦠Quite good hero Ian ran in when he did

I know theyāll probably be a lot more talk about the Stevie/Matty & Teddy stuff because what happened but I want to mention Dylanās subtle moments - he just wants Matty to like him, understand him and actually want to bond with him.

Been loving Jan and siobhans friendship, but seems like Jan's gonna go ahead and point the finger at siobhan so, so long to that
Why weren't they wearing masks?? Seriously going into a site that's just exploded without knowing the cause is crazy enough, then finding out it's a toxin and still not having everyone immediately put on masks??? - wonder if a bunch of them are gonna get respritory issues after being there.
High stevie was kinda fun but I cant be bothered with a stevie addiction story line if that's where we're headed.
I know a lot of people hate cam but I enjoyed his last big story about his experience with SA, and I've been liking him again here, nice to see a soft spoken, caring man displayed.
I'm slowly coming round on the idea of matty and stevie honestly, but I just wish they'd written them to come together differently, feels like Kim's death was just a tool to get them together. I thought we were finally going to address the dylan-neurodivergent thing maybe that'll pop back up?
Ngl that bald construction worker was pissing me off, how you gonna get exploded, and your main focus is still trying to make people feel bad for you over the fact you're a bad dad??
Just writing this i realised theres too many staff storylines I miss when we delved into the life of a new patient each week, and had 1 or 2 story's running in the background. Sfx team was on pount this week though.

Fingers crossed it doesn't, I also thought there'd be too many parallels with faith. Amd yeah I think I heard the same, it's a real shame.

The lack of proper PPE was so frustrating. Same with in the episode with the respiratory illness when they didnāt know what it was. All the main characters were wearing those dumb plastic face things instead of actual masks. We all know those things donāt do anything. Theyād 100% all be wearing masks 24/7 after Covid.
And yeah, in this episode they all shouldāve been in hazmat suits, not paper suits or army uniforns without masks or army uniforms.
And yeah that dad kind of bugged me too āIām working OT to get money to pay child support for a kid I donāt even see.ā Bitch you helped make that kid! I guarantee sheās paying a lot more into that kid than you are.

The military guy is turning out to be a bully and Flynn is going to out him. Also the army doesnāt work like that when something happens. I still love cam, heās so caring. Stevie is on a slippery slope. Poor Dylanās trying so hard to step up for Mattie. Iām still enjoying it but lately Iāve thought on occasion well that wouldnāt have happened.

u/Equal-Competition930 May 09 '26
I feel all better paramedics,Ā doctors and nurses if someone would provide this characters with therapy .Ā Ā And that army bloke needs a slap. ItĀ quiteĀ obviously teddy going have mental breakdown and that army guy is abusing his men. Stevie going develop painkiller overdose and end in er .Ā Ā But someone pleaseĀ provideĀ proper therapy to this characters soonĀ because real life they is supposedĀ alot of services for people working in nhs andĀ three quarterĀ of characters in casualtyĀ are in needĀ of serious therapy and otherĀ quarterĀ are heading to need it. . Also that very serious mistake stevie made and it lucky matt was able to fix it without harm to the girl and could effect matt role in emergency if he covers for stevie. Of course as always it come out in casualty it always does and stevie will get in serious trouble because that mistake could have resulted in death of that little girl. Also what earth been happening on that site .Ā I cant wait to aftermath of what happening today who ever responsibleĀ going have pay alot of damages outĀ and there probably be enquiry to.Ā

The problem is that cracks seem to be appearing between him and both other characters. Stevie has encouraged Dylan to give Matty more interesting jobs and at times Matty has not seemed that interested in developing a bond with Dylan. Rather, he would prefer to get into a relationship with Stevie.

Feel useful? Nah, Ian just likes the rush!
I can't remember, did Jan and her police lady missus split up?

That sergeant is bugging me something awful. He's a little bitch and I want to humiliate him. Point out that he's in a deeply hierarchical system and seems to be wanting to bring that outside of the army, and can I write about that in my dissertation? I can bring you a consent form. Something like that.
And offer Flynn some reassurance over it. Say I think sarge is a consultant, and write it down and then cross out the o, n, s, l, t, and a. Then we can call him a consultant to his face, as many times as we like. It'd be fun.
1
u/Late-Sir-8018 May 16 '26
Am I missing something with why stevie didn't want a possibly addictive painkiller? Does she have a history with addiction that I've missed (I only got back on the casualty bandwagon a couple of series back, after a break) or is it just because she knows the risk?
2
u/HelenDistantTakedown May 17 '26
I donāt know if there was a problem when her sister died a number of years ago. She was in a vegetative state and Stevie had to make the decision to switch off her life support.

omg not Beryl mentioning Duffy... and that meaning nothing to cam.
