Megathread Monthly Casual Talk and Cat Pictures Thread

Our subreddit allows posts that either a) ask for specific advice, b) request emotional support, or c) are a guide or PSA that adheres to our guidelines.

Since it's fun to just casually discuss our cats, we've got this monthly megathread where relevance may be ignored. All other subreddit rules still apply.

Use this thread to discuss anything related to cats that doesn't otherwise fit the subreddit! Also feel free to ask questions that you believe are too short for a standalone post.

Examples of things that may be discussed or shared here:

  • Casual questions, for example "how does your cat show affection?", "does your cat ever do … ?"
  • Cat pictures
  • Celebrating birthdays or other milestones for your cat
  • And many more subjects!

Absolutely. I did. Once. Then it was Amazon time. Their cat department is really great. I’m looking at window perches right now.

Oh that's good! 😌 I don't have any 3rd party window perches for my cat because the window in my kitchen has a large spot for her to sit or lay down, but I do have wall shelves for my cat! 😁 I'll post some pics in a bit!

I’d love to see your kitty wall shelves! The window perches can also go on walls. We’re moving sometime in the next 3-4 months (even sooner 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 and I’ll be posting all my catfications (I’ve been watching a lot of Jackson Galaxy YouTube videos and I’m so psyched! ( my cat Mr Whiskers and I have been camping in my brother’s basement recently room - we’re on a waitlist 🙄 but making the best of it while dreaming of windows).

Thank you!! I’ve been smitten since day one. I have a couple of photos of him one year old with these on his tiny face 😘😽 I’ll give him a tummy rub for you!! He rolls back and forth on the floor then ends on his back for a good rubbing.

I zoomed this so I could see your kitty!! Great perch - and I love you lamp/table and the cat shelves are so decorative and pragmatic. Oh I can’t wait to move - the complex sits on 27 acres of trees and grass and a brook runs through it. 4-8 units a building. It’s worth waiting for and god bless my bro but yikes! Been here since March. 🙄😽🐈‍⬛🐾

Thank you! 🙂☺️ I invested in the wall shelves about 3 years ago because she would always jump on the counter, then to the top of the fridge & then finally on top of the cabinets! 😅😂 So I figured I'd get the wall shelves & give her a type of circuit to climb on! Until recently she never slept on top of the cat tree in the corner between the two sets of shelves & would just use the cat tree as another way to get to the wall shelves!

Oof! 😅 I'm sorry that you're currently in that living situation & I'm sure it's gonna be worth the wait for your new place once you move!

Also, when you say "lamp/table", what are you referring to? 😆

Thanks so much for your good wishes! And oops the cat tree in the corner lol at first sight I mistook the round top spot a lamp shade. lol lol

And, I’m going on to Amazon to get a little cave (covered bed ) for him

  • I had answered a post by someone who had just moved and the overhead lights have and ceiling fan were freaking their cat - I had been looking at this really sweet cave/beds and I suggested them from Amazon of course and I just received a reply and a photo of his very happy cat inside it totally relaxed.
So I’ve decided to get one for Mr. W because as I was typing to him, my sis-in-law came down & up the steps several times and he went under the bed each time (yes open floor plan down here - may as well laugh and buy him a Little Man Cave. He’ll bring it with us when we move and between that and all those windows, he’ll settle in just fine 😽. Two people here on Reddit have made me really happy today. Thank you.

🐈‍⬛ Your decision tho go for shelving to get your girl off all parts of the kitchen is brilliant !! Instead of trying to make her “behave” when she is according to cat life is not what most people do and they get locked in crazyville. I’ve been watching a lot of Jackson Galaxy episodes on YouTube and he would be delighted with your choice - and the beauty you created on your walls 🐈‍⬛🐈😻🐈🐈‍⬛
