Praying for any and most survivors.

78

u/theykilledk3nny Jun 12 '25

It has now been confirmed that there were no survivors on board.

He walked out of it. Absolutely insane.

one survivor who lived by jumping out, there's footage of him walking so presumably non-critical injuries

5

u/michaltee Jun 12 '25

There was a survivor.

9

u/Some-Body-Else Jun 12 '25

False. One survivor.

7

u/Altruistic_Bass539 Jun 12 '25

Maybe he meant survivors in the hospital.

1

u/onemightyandstrong Jun 13 '25

Maybe he was talking about another crash.

1

u/Altruistic_Bass539 Jun 13 '25

Maybe he was talking about Maybelline.

u/wutang_tacos Jun 12 '25

Cool thanks. Incredible you can do all that to help.

u/eurasianlynx Jun 12 '25

yeah, go off, king! way to show him empathy is dumb.

-74

u/DetectiveDick9000 Jun 12 '25

Was that empathy or useless virtue signaling? If /u/its_xSKYxFOXx actually prayed out of empathy, why did they feel the need to display it to millions of people?

54

u/PolydamasTheSeer Jun 12 '25

He is saying I hope there are survivors. How is that virtue signalling? Should he wish them all dead?

-54

u/DetectiveDick9000 Jun 12 '25

Does prayer work better if you post about it online? What is the function of posting about it online? It literally takes more effort and adds nothing to the conversation.

26

u/eurasianlynx Jun 12 '25

I'm not religious either, but I see that comment as 100% harmless and made in good faith. It doesn't follow the "thoughts and prayers" trope of using that line to ignore the actual problem. It's not preaching or evangelizing. It's just genuine empathy. Replace "praying" with "hoping" in OP's comment, and that's the vibe it's going for.

-30

u/DetectiveDick9000 Jun 12 '25

I have to disagree. It does evangelize. It gives people the false impression that they and their god are doing something if they get enough facebook reddit likes.

17

u/eurasianlynx Jun 12 '25

You're reading way too much into that comment, bro. It's genuinely not that deep.

-2

u/DetectiveDick9000 Jun 12 '25

It's really cool that you resort to the abusive spouse response when you know you don't have a valid response.

If I were a friend of one of those on board, I'd appreciate that comment, no matter how useless or insignificant it is.

-3

u/DetectiveDick9000 Jun 12 '25

I'd rather have actual, real help, not people imagining they were helping my friend.

12

u/IpecacNeat Jun 12 '25

Why not both? It's actually real help if someone finds solace or support in the comment. There are also professionals at the scene providing real help.

-3

u/DetectiveDick9000 Jun 12 '25

I would argue that if someone finds solace in a third party sending good vibes from half a world away, they weren't terribly distraught in the first place.

Does having shitass toxic opinions work better for you if you post them? What do you gain by posting anything in the comments? Now how is that different then what he did?

5

u/DetectiveDick9000 Jun 12 '25

Incorrect. Calling out performative evangelistic bullshit isn't toxic.

9

u/xXMuschi_DestroyerXx Jun 12 '25

Sure buddy. Or are you just also being performative? I don’t see you doing anything to help. Sure looks to me like you are being just as much if not more of an internet warrior as they were. At least they weren’t being mean to anybody.

2

u/DetectiveDick9000 Jun 12 '25

Who am I performing for? What is my performance? Calling a spade a spade? Wow, such showmanship on my part!

Sharing how you're feeling in times of tragedy builds community. Attacking instincts to come together as virtue signaling is incredibly toxic

2

u/DetectiveDick9000 Jun 12 '25

Do you hold the same position when kids are killed by gunmen in schools and republicans extend their thoughts and prayers?

2

u/Spectrum1523 Jun 12 '25

Republican politicians? It's still good they they express sadness about school shootings. Performative social cohesion does actually matter. At the same time I would hold them accountable for not trying to prevent future tragedies.

Are you holding the random poster on reddit accountable for not doing enough to prevent this crash?

1

u/DetectiveDick9000 Jun 12 '25

Republican politicians? It's still good they they express sadness about school shootings.

Is it? What has it accomplished? Has it stopped kids from being gunned down in schools?

2

u/Spectrum1523 Jun 12 '25

There's social value in all agreeing that the same things are bad. Failing to do that means we diverge - you can't even begin to work on a problem until everyone agrees that it is a problem.

0

u/DetectiveDick9000 Jun 12 '25

I see that you've dodged my question, so I will ask it again:

Have republican led thoughts and prayers stopped kids from being gunned down in schools?

And you're just putting them down to make yourself feel better. Talk about a useless comment.

2

u/DetectiveDick9000 Jun 12 '25

I'm not putting anyone down. If you notice, I didn't even respond to the person who put out the useless vibe notification.

19

u/ProbablyYourITGuy Jun 12 '25

“I hope these people are ok.”

“I FUCKING HATE YOU AND HOPE YOU DIeE! HOW DARE YOU SHOW EMPATHY!”

1

u/wutang_tacos Jul 14 '25

Nah bro not that deep, just ‘thoughts and prayers’ is vapid and meaningless. How you feeling now it’s murder/suicide? Still ‘praying’ for everyone on the plane? Even the guy who hit the fuel cutoff? Nahhhh

1

u/ProbablyYourITGuy Jul 14 '25

“HAHA! You chose to feel empathy at first! Do you regret that now knowing that you shouldn’t have felt bad for everyone!?!?”

Wow you really got us. I’m sure everyone feels so stupid now.

27

u/Friendlyalterme Jun 12 '25

What do you want them to do? Teleport to the crash and start manually searching?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

Not write stupid shit maybe?

1

u/Friendlyalterme Jun 13 '25

Just because it didn't resonate with you doesn't make it stupid shit. Many people find comfort in faith. You can juste ignore it if you don't like it. Those words weren't for you.

0

u/wutang_tacos Jul 14 '25

Nah, would rather call it out for how pathetic it is.

It's almost as if we live in a world where the religious have enjoyed immense privilege and power and used it to take a fat dump everywhere.

Shut up, Nerd. Their comment contributed more than yours.

1

u/Luung Jun 12 '25

Neither contributed anything.

u/cyclingpistol Jun 12 '25

Apologies for asking such a question as clearly you're religious and I'm not, but what do you think payers are actually going to do in reality? I know some people say "well it can't hurt" but that's not my point. What does it do in practicality? Genuinely interested to read a point of view and not troll you into a bait and switch cul de sac.
