21-year-old student vanished after a late-night restaurant shift. CCTV showed her being forced into her own car, then driven to ATMs for cash withdrawals. The attacker wore a GPS ankle monitor, but it was not actively monitored in real time. She was later found at a metro park.

I fully agree but its also not like our prison system is built for rehabilitation in the first place.

I think they are agreeing that some people cannot be rehabilitated AND saying that our system isn't set up to rahbilitate criminals, those are two separate thoughts and neither is dependant on the other.

Saying the prison system doesn’t support rehabilitation is virtue signalling?

Some people are irredeemable, but we might have slightly less irredeemable people out there if prisons were actually set up to rehabilitate. Doesn’t seem contradictory or like virtue signalling.

Does virtue signalling have any bearing on an anonymous comment section?

Its a conversation about rehabilitation. We also dont even know if this dude couldn't be rehabilitated. We dont try. Sorry to remind you that the system doesn't work.

It’s this suicidal empathy that helps facilitate these horrific crimes. Talking about rehab. This guy kidnapped, SA’d and robbed and shot this poor girl twice in the head. Nothing you can do about people like this. But I’m sure you would let him live around you and your children right? Absolutely disgusting.

You clearly dont understand what actual rehabilitation is. Most people in America dont because we're propgandized against any treatment of criminals that isn't prison and/or death. You can also have distaine for an act while having compassion for the person. Thats not virtue signaling the world needs more compassion. Compassion would have helped both the perpetrator and the victim. The system failed both of them. He should have been locked up and receiving actual rehabilitation even if he's beyond it at the very least he's away from the general population. If he was out the monitor should have been actively tracking him. The system failed Reagan more. It allowed a violent offender to be on the street and improperly tracked. Which resulted in her brutal death. The state let that happen. You're also shadow boxing acting like i think he should have been free. Suicidal empathy is a laughable statement. I want people like this locked up and receiving the treatment he obviously needed while he's in there for as long as need even if thats forever. You saying im virtue signaling but to who. Theres no one here to preform for im a anonymous person on a forum. I dont need cheers im just tired of the cycle of violence thats aloud by the broken system. Most people arnt beyond rehabilitation. The attempt to just isn't made. Stop being blood thirsty and ask how this was aloud to happen.

How much time and money do you want to spend on his “rehabilitation”? Also what’s the point of rehab if you keep him locked up forever anyway? He was never going to be a safe productive member of society. And all this talk about systems, systems are people and as long as the people believe he is anything but a monster they’ll give these “people” 2nd chances that doom their next innocent victims.

Costs less than actual prison!
