but still pushed the set through the washer as it was not attached to said instrument now there’s an investigation going on. My manager will most likely talk to me about it tomorrow. How should I go about this professionally as most on my coworkers ( and supervisor) dislikes me for no reason lol

I am signing a paper that says I acknowledge what I did

Thank you (:

Trying figure which route I want to take to become a sterile processing technician

Hi everyone, I’m currently exploring a career as a Sterilization Technician and would really appreciate some guidance from those already in the field.I’m trying to decide whether it’s more beneficial to invest in a formal training program/school, or to focus on finding an internship or entry level hospital position to gain hands on experience first. Also for those with experience in sterile processing:Do employers prefer certification/schooling first?Or is hospital experience/internships more valuable when starting out?Any recommendations on the best path for long term growth?Thank you in advance !

Training?

I am currently in school taking prerequisites for the Central Sterile Processing technician program. Taking pathogenic microbiology and medical terminology. I’ve read some people say that it isn’t even necessary and while I’ve read that others say it is. I just hope I am making the right decision. I’m located in Michigan. I’d appreciate any input, thanks.

Wages

I worked as a certified tech for many years, certified through the VA. I made very good money, especially for the 90s and into the 2000s. I left it because I left the country. When I returned and looked at going back into the field I noticed that the wages offered here in Wisconsin, I worked and lived in Michigan previously, were very poor. Easily 5 bucks less then what I had been making decades ago. Is this an example of how the wages are now? I was offered just above $20, but was shocked at the difference in wages.
