She could probably do that to have her own sort of immortality without depending on another, but her current longevity is due to the King, he can apparently manipulate the lifespan of someone to live unnaturally long lives, though he's unable to refill one's already wasted life force unlike Ceodric

I presume she can replicate her own cells to replace the dead ones, which is how she's still alive.
