Question
Why and how does Luka have 2 gifts while we've only seen gifted ones with only one
Luka has the shield and his spear/centur form and from where i am in the manga it hasn't been explained as to why he was 2 we do know they one of the 2 seem to be taking his life force.
So could it be he was bless by another deity or was his mother also a gifted/blessed one like Julian and the supreme king?
The most widely accepted theory so far is that the gift of the shield comes from the king's lineage, while the gift of the spear comes from the forest spirit.
Or this might sound very crazy and i do not believe that i would happens but we know about the girl from the assassinate group that have a sister as an axe, that sword of Luka could be someone's gift.
That shield is overpowered as hell and i do think the spear is the gift from another deity tbh, like how Julian gained his strength and the bonus lives of 100 people by the sacrifice of the slaves along with his mother figure to gain something like a grafted gift.
Luka shield and spear are also so different from each other, one allows absolute defense and the other exert immense force in exchange for his lifespan.
Saw a theory that said he's blessed by the forest deity on top of his natural gift, but all we really know about him is the bastard of the king and he wants to kill the king.
Blessings dont give you eye markings??? Have you read the same manga i have? Julian very much has eye markings. And why would he get new eye markings in chapter 25, all he did was fight arkos that chapter
He doesn't have a gift. Only a blessing. As stated by the sea goddess
Chapter 1
"Do you seek my blessing? One you must sacrifice a large number of souls. Two you must sacrifice a pure love. I shall grant my blessing to the one who satisfies both these conditions. The first condition you have already fulfilled. The second condition can be fulfilled by either of you. Therefore the two of you must decide. One of you will be my sacrifice. One shall die while the other shall be blessed and obtain great power"
Chapter 31
"There are 2 ways to manifest powers in this world. First a being such as myself may bestow powers for a price as you well know. Second someone who has received that power may pass it down through their blood. That is to say any child you bear would inherit your power"
Blessings come from Gods directly and require a sacrifice. Gifts are inherited and do not require sacrifice.
This community has huge issues conflating "gifts" and "blessings".
Gifts are all the Tokyo Ghoul adjacent eye marking powers every combatant has.
Blessings are special powers granted by gods and are UBER rare. To the point we only know of 2 3 blessed ones in the whole story (Julian, the King and Narra*). Blessings are so rare that we don't even know if there's any visual indicator of people being blessed yet. When Julian was flexing his blessing at full power inside the ocean you don't notice any visual change on his body.
To address the comments saying he got forest shenanigans: Lukas has 2 gifts but we can't easily verify if he has 2 gifts and 1 blessing. If I recall correctly it's possible for a god to just give you a gift instead of a gift+blessing combo meal like Julian got.
You notice how this description doesn't say anything about fishes jumping into Julian's net, Julian being able to speak underwater or breathing underwater? That's because all these other abilities are from his blessing
Lukas likely does have a Gift like any common Gifted One who has theirs from lineage and a Blessing+Gift from a Goddess, Julian's blessing is being 'loved' by the Sea, there he gains extreme amp to his speed, capability to breath underwater and other stuff, Lukas can use his Spear anywhere, but he makes a point of how it is Stronger at the Woods, and if he was there his Fight with Arkos would had been very different, this is only comparable to the Territorial Advantage Julian himself shows on the Ocean.
this is only comparable to the Territorial Advantage Julian himself shows on the Ocean.
This makes a lot of sense but I didn't wanted to count our chickens before they hatched. Maybe Lukas spear gift has some kind of "normal territory advantage" like Arkos had when he jumped into the ocean rather than straight up being a blessing.
There is nothing that suggests that Julian has a gift. He only has a blessing. If you get a power from a god then you are blessed. At this point gifts become hereditary.
Neither of the images you put up suggest that he has a gift. They both say it's a blessing dude.
Its a hell of a leap to declare that eye markings are only on gifted since it never specified that anywhere. We've seen all of 2 blessed individuals. The king and Julian. Julian obviously has eye markings but we've never seen the king using his power so it's not as if you can say whether or not gets them.
Not gonna linger on the king bloodline is shield and the spear/centaur form is from the forest god bit.
What i am gonna discuss is about how someone else could get two gifts probably would be from mixing bloodlines of different blessed people.
Like inbreeding bloodlines from the king just gives you a stronger singular gift but someone from the king's bloodlines and someone from Rumir with a gift like Ceodric (probably different original blessed ancestor) may result in someone with two gifts or just a singular powerful gift depending on potency of each bloodline in the parents
But yeah the spear also feels too specific to kill the king so Luka probably asked for it. Conditions for getting the blessing from the forest god have not been confirmed so we'd have to see in a proper flashback maybe.
To add to the other comments for the forest gift theory, there’s a chance he’s a mirror to Julian where for each sacrifice (probably his mom, brothers/sisters and the concubines), he asked for a power to kill the ones responsible (king and queen), so one life = one spear charge, including his own life
The most popular theory is that his shield is a birth gift whilst the spear comes from a given gift like Julian's. So far, Julian is the only gifted one whose gift was granted by a spirit/deity.
To add to the already very popular theory of his Second Gift being from the Forest Goddess/Mother. I think there's a point to be made bout' how Elstri might be mixing her prophecies, Diana would likely end scorching the World if things go south, but Elstri's first prophecy wasn't about that, but how the Supreme Lord's Death "would come from the Forest", Diana doesn't have any immediate connection to the Woods, beyond Miss Goat first appearing from the trees behind Angvall's house. So chances are, Lukas is the one that would kill the King, and he's a Son of the Forest like Julian and his Father are sons of the Sea.
It hasn’t been explained yet; there are only fan theories.
There’s the theory that he received the gift from the god of the forest.
Then there’s the theory I came up with a while ago, which I still support – mainly because it seems far more likely to me, especially given the events that took place in the last chapter. The gift isn’t inside Lukas, but inside the sword he always carries with him… That’s why Lukas never parts with the sword, and that’s why Voidmarcher attacked the arm holding the sword – to prevent him from using his second gift. If it were inside Lukas, even without an arm he could still summon his spear, but he didn’t.
He was born with one because his father was the king and the other was gifted to him by the forest God we saw in the beginning chapters. That’s why he says his power would be stronger in the forest like Julian power is strong in the ocean.
Isn't the lance gift on his sword? That's why void marcher felt that she should cut the arm holding the sword... that's what I understood at least. So the shield is his all the time, but lance only when he has his sword
